The Dead Are Among Us

Chapter Four

Morning was actually peaceful seemed like everything went back to normal till I looked out the window seeing two walkers. I looked around to see Mike was gone. Worry began to kick in did he take my bag leaving me here on my own? I lunged out the couch I was sleeping to see if he was in the store. No one was here, I wasn't gonna yell out knowing last time what happened. Every part of the store I searched I couldn't even find my bag where the hell could he be? Once I figured he wasn't there I went back to the staff room only to see him sitting on the couch reading his book.

"Where the hell were you?" I asked

"Their is a shower I'm not gonna smell like a dead rat" He replied

"Alright.. Where's my bag?'

He pointed under the couch I was sleeping at. Out of all the places I didn't check under the couch. I grabbed my bag quickly to make sure everything was in place. To see nothing was missing especially my gun.

"You know you gotta leave today right? Mike announced

"Oh uh yea I know guess I should get ready.."

"Alright well it was nice knowing you"

"Do you have a car?"

"Yea but I only use it when its a must.. Why?"

"Was wondering if you could drive me off kinda still terrified you know walking with the dead"

Mike stared at me for a couple of moments and began to laugh. Guess my offer was a really stupid one.

"You must be outta your damn mind, I'm not driving you anywhere" He responded

"But you know how it is out there!"

"I'm not driving, they are attracted to sound have sharp ears once we start that car we will have a mob running after us"

Even though hes right I couldn't take the risk of having a mob running after me. I grabbed my stuff, and began to head out. Seeing the real was never a happy moment you know people would love to go explore the different places like France or Italy but now everyone dreads stepping foot in the world. While walking I saw the dead corpse all along the road. The smell was awful but the sight didn't take effect on me now knowing how everything is. Usually when you drive or walk you see stores or maybe fast food restaurants for me all I saw was plain fields with no houses no stores no nothing. Surprisingly I didn't see any walkers so I guessed I was safe for now. Along the road I saw a vacant SUV, my legs were tired from walking so I decided to maybe go check it out. Once I reached to the car I saw a dead corpse in the drivers seat but the keys were still in. I removed the corpse out of the car and started the car and luckily it worked. I threw my bag to the passenger seat and resumed my journey. One thing I did instantly was I check if any radio stations were broadcasting anything, Not a single thing was on. For about 20 minutes I continued driving only to find a stray person walking. Now I didn't know if they were infected or not but if I was that person I would want someone to stop for me to give me a ride. I slowly drived to keep the pace of the person who was walking only to see it was a young girl.

"Hey you! You need a ride?" I asked

"My mom taught me not to speak to strangers"

"Well did your mom teach you how to survive for your life?"

"I don't want any trouble Mister" She replied

"Look I know your all alone let me drive you where ever you need to go"

She stood there for a moment then finally got in the car. She had blonde hair and green eyes but she looked like she hadn't bathed or eaten in days.
