She's a girl with the best intentions
He's a man of his own invention
She looked out the window
He walked out the door
"So..." Y/n stared at me with oddly emotionless eyes. "All that's real? Everything?"
"Yup." I sighed out, relaxing when she didn't freak.
"What about twilight?"
"Not quite, but sort off. Vampires exist, but they don't sparkle in the sun." Dean scoffed. He was sitting on one of the beds drinking a beer. I nodded in agreement.
"Okay, so what was that back at Mr. Pumpernickels then?" She was starting to relax, even sat down in a chair, but she had her pepper spray in her hand. I was weary of it, as I knew how much it stung. And how good of aim she had.
"Ghost."
"And you kill ghosts?" Genuine curiosity was evident on her features as she leaned forward, studding me intently.
"Yeah, we do."
"How? They're already dead, right?" She jumped from the chair, the sudden movement startling both me and Dean. "How can you kill something that's dead?" Her feet carried her back and forth across the room again and again.
"Well, because it's already dead that means there's something holding it's spirit here to the living world. We find what that thing is and cut the connection, killing it the rest of the way." I explained as well as I could with her distracting me, my eyes never leaving her as she continued to pace.
"How do you find the thing that it's connected to then?"
"First we find out who it is doing the haunting, then we find out where they were buried. If they have no remains we have to find some kind of trinket or family heirloom that they were connected to."
"You wound't happen to know who that was would you?" Dean spoke up.
"Yeah, it looked like the original Mr. Pumpernickel. He was buried in the North Cemetery on Oak Hill." Y/n paused her pacing to throw this information over her shoulder only to start pacing again. "Now that you know where he is, what do you do?"
"Salt and burn the bones. Salt is a natural spirit repellant, once the remains are burning, the spirit burns with them." I was entranced by her interest in everything. Most people would run screaming for the hills, but she was truly eager to learn.
"Common Sammy, we should head out. Want to start digging before sunset." Dean was already by the door with a duffle that I knew contained everything we needed.
"Okay yeah, I'm coming." I stood and started to follow Dean, stopping when Y/n followed me. "You need to stay here."
"I can handle myself." She was a very defensive human. I wondered who had caused her to be that way.
"Trust me, I would never doubt that." My eye and nose still hurt. "But you have no clue what's gonna happen, and neither do we. I don't want you to get hurt." I was shocked by my sincerity as much as she was. Turning I walked from the room before her eyes could change my mind.
But she followed him
And he said, "What'cha lookin' for?"
She said, I want something that I want;
Something that I tell myself I need
Something that I want
And I need everything I see.
The ghost came out of no were, nocking Dean down to the ground, narrowly missing a head stone. I groaned as I turned to continue digging on the third grave. Third. There're three dead Pumpernickels. A gunshot sounded, alerting me to the fact that the danger was gone for the moment. It was a few more shovels of dirt before I realized that the gunshot had come from the wrong direction. Glancing up, I saw her. Y/n stood a few feet away, one of my guns held in her hands. She was actually handling it nicely, and appeared to be the one to have shot the spirit.
"What are you doing Winchester? Keep digging!" With both her and Dean standing over me with their guns it was only a mater of moments before I was climbing from the grave and pouring the salt and lighted fluid in.
"Get down!" Y/n's warning came less then a second before her body did, slamming both of us to the ground. Dean lit a match and dropped it into the hole. The ghost went up in flames and all three of us let out a deep sigh of relief.
"What the hell were you thinking?!" Dean pulled Y/n off of me with one hand around her per arm. Her hand made a loud smack as it connected with his face.
"If you ever touch me in such a way again, I'll be emptying these stupid un-fatal salt bull-its into you, understand?"
"Yes ma'am." Dean stepped back, shock written on his face that had turned a nice shade of red.
"Don't call me ma'am." She growled before offering me a hand up.
"What are you doing here, Y/n?" I wasn't surprised by her strength as she hoisted me to my feet.
"I decided that I'm going with you guys."
"What?!? No, no way in hell!" Dean was outraged, but I had heard the finality in Y/n's voice. She was coming with us. I couldn't stop the smile that spread on my face.
he's been livin' in a pure illusion
she's gonna come to her own conclusion
right when you think you know what to say
someone comes along and shows you a brand new way
"I can't believe we're doing this." Dean mumbled as we sat waiting for Y/n to get some of her stuff.
"Common Dean, you saw how she handled that ghost. Imagine what she could accomplish with training." I was watching the house, but I didn't miss the look that my brother shot me. "What?"
"Nothing, just keep it in your pants, okay?"
"I don't have to deal with this." I sighed as I marched to the house to see if she needed any help. I found her upstairs in a room, staring at a photo.
"Hey," I knocked on the door frame, causing her to jump with a start. She wiped away her tears hastily, trying to hide them from me. "You don't have to come with us."
"I want to. I have nothing here." She claimed as she threw the photo into a bag and zipped it up. She squared her shoulders and looked me in the eye. "I want to go." I didn't doubt her for a second.
"What about family?" I asked, scared that the question might change her mind. When did I start wanting her to come with us so much?
"My parents are dead, only child, and my cousins are drunk dicks." She let out a strangled laugh that ended in a sniffle. Her eyes searched my face, and she opened her mouth like she wanted to ask me something, but stopped and pressed her lips together.
Then we were both moving forward, meeting in the middle of the room as I bent to press my lips to hers. She wrapped her arms around my neck as she arched up into me. My hands wound their way around her back and settled on her waist. A moan fell from her only to be swallowed by me as we desperately kissed each other like it was our last moments of life. The Impala's horn caused us to both jump back, staring at each other trying to catch out breath.
"We should go." I panted.
"Yeah," She cleared her throat and glanced around the room one more time. "Yeah lets go." She smiled up at me, the first time I had seen her smile, and I was struggling to catch my breath again. I was in love, and nothing could stop the free fall that I had found myself in.
It's so easy to make believe,
it seems you're livin' in a dream
Don't you see that what you need
is standing in front of you?
