"We have been told that there is a hostage situation on the outskirts on New York City." The news reporter said, behind her came a video tape of the lake-house and the police force standing outside it.

"Fuck." Klaus swore and scratched his head. "Shit."

"Daddy?" Alfie came out of his room. "Where's mummy?" The little boy sat on the sofa.

"Mummy will be home soon." He looked at Alfie. "I promise you."

The little boy nodded and then looked at the television, he gasped which made Klaus look at him with concern.

"What, Alfie?"

"Isn't that the lake-house? Mummy's lake-house?" He asked with curiosity.

"Are you hungry? I'm sure you're hungry." Klaus picked up his son and took him into the kitchen, trying to stop him from asking questions.

From the kitchen, while Klaus was making Alfie a sandwich he heard the TV talk about the hostage situation.

"As you can see from the video, a girl got out of the house." Klaus' head snapped up from the news and he ran to the living room but to his disappointment: it wasn't Caroline, it was someone who he didn't recognise.

'Caroline found Bonnie...' Klaus thought in astonishment. He reached for his phone which was on the table and dialled Kol's number, he picked up on the second ring.

"Are you watching this?" Klaus asked.

"Bonnie's alive..she's actually alive." Kol's quiet voice came from the phone.

"She doesn't look so good."

"No shit. Do you think he still has Caroline?"

"I have no clue.." Klaus whispered.

XXXX

"You said you can get me out?" Carter asked Caroline, walking around her like a predator stalking its prey.

"Yes. I can." The blonde looked down to the floor, examining her hands.

"Where? Where do I go?"

"But then why should when I could just run out to the cops? Considering they have Bonnie now."

"I'll kill you and your boy toy before you even reach the door."

"What are you talking about?"

Carter pulled out a tablet from a bag she didn't remember him bringing, and gave it to her. On the screen she saw a clear view into her apartment, a red dot aimed at Klaus' head who was watching the TV intently with worry etched across his face.

Caroline's breath caught in fear when she realised that Klaus could be dead in an instant, it was up to her now. His and Alfie's lives were in her hands.

"What do I need to do?" Caroline asked.

The serial killer smirked at the blonde beauty on the floor and pulled out a gun. "Go outside, tell them to leave and if they don't then shot one. If they keep denying then shot another. Tell them that Klaus will die if they don't leave, and Alfie will become an orphan -or of course he can live with me." The man winked at the frightened women.

Caroline took the gun with fear and stood up slowly. "That's all I have to do? If they leave then you'll tell your man to back down?" Carter nodded, still smirking at her.

She took a deep breath and walked towards the door, she looked back at Carter who nodded to her -she took that as a warning. Caroline limped out the lake-house with the gun poised high.

"Caroline!" Bonnie yelled. "Get over here, thank-god you're okay!"

But the blonde stood her ground, she shook her head as tears fell down her face. "Leave." She told them all.

"Caroline? Get over here." Alaric yelled.

"LEAVE!" Caroline screamed at the top of her lungs.

XXXX

"LEAVE!" A scream came from the television, it must've been loud if the helicopter which was recording could here it.

'Caroline?' Klaus thought. She looked terrible, bloodied and bruised. It made Klaus cringe at the sight of his girlfriend so battered and there was nothing he could do.

"Daddy? What was that?" Alfie came running to his dad again, like earlier except this time: he was scared. "What's on your forehead daddy?" The kid pointed to the red dot.

"Probably nothing, Alfie."

"No look! It's red and it's huge!" Alfie pulled his dad up from the sofa and dragged him towards the closest mirror but when Klaus looked, there was nothing there.

"You're seeing things, Alfie." Klaus went to sit back down and the red dot appeared again.

"Daddy it's back!"

The Brit just sighed at his sons loud behaviour. Alfie stomped his foot on the ground, annoyed that he was being ignored so he ran to his room and ran back into the front room a minute later.
"Here." Alfie gave Klaus a small mirror with dinosaurs surrounding it.

Klaus huffed but complied by putting the mirror up in front of him, and to his surprise: there was a red dot. Out of the corner of his eye, Klaus looked up to the opposite apartment building and saw where the dot was coming from. It was barely visible but he could see a sniper rifle leaning of the edge pointing in his direction.

"Alfie?"

"Yes daddy? Do you believe me now?"

"I want you to go to your room, now." Alfie looked hurt, he obviously thought he was being told off. He stomped off in a mood into his room.

When Alfie wasn't near any Windows pointing the shooter, Klaus jumped out the way and hid behind a wall. He pulled his phone out from his jean pocket and dialled Alaric's number, he picked up straight away.

"Nows not a good time, Klaus." Alaric hissed.

"Neither, there's a shooter. Pointed straight into out apartment. Pretty sure it's a sniper rifle."

"Fuck."

"What's going on over there? I've seen the news, why is she so distraught?"
