I know the sound so well. A combination of a yell, a whir, and a siren. It can only mean one thing.
The TARDIS.
I hit pause, drop the remote, and dash down the stairs into the basement. The lights come under the door leading to a little room off my dad's hunting storage area. The TARDIS is louder here. I approach the door, reaching up to open it.
No need. He opens it before I can.
It's definitely the Tenth. He has the brown hair sticking up and slightly curving backwards. He's wearing the blue suit with the brown coat, and he looks startled to see me. I'm about to fangirl, I know it. He finally gets here, and I'm about to start screaming and jumping like a little girl who met a princess. I open my mouth, but instead of a scream, I hear the words I had been rehearsing since I was warned of his coming in the basement:
"The backyard is about 50 yards that way. You can park here, but I'd rather you lead monsters and things there and not through the house."
He looks the way I point, then back at me, still confused. Then he replies, "Oh yeah, sorry." Then he closed the door.

When I saw that girl standing there, I was sure I had a lot to explain, but all she had done was direct me to the garden. Clearly that was where she wanted me to go. So I just went back to the TARDIS and set the controls to move 45 meters and started up.
"What's wrong?" asked Donna.
"Bad spot," I replied. I would explain it better when I found the girl again.
"Well, where are we?"
"Northern US, early 2000's."
"Don't suppose you could be more specific?"
"Nope," I grinned. "I don't know. I love not knowing."
The TARDIS had been pulled off-course to a very specific place, down to the decimeter. Someone had wanted me to come to this room of this specific house, but I had no idea why. Maybe it was related to the girl. She looked like she recognized me. I had never seen her before, but maybe she had seen me.
It wouldn't be the first time. Poor River...
The TARDIS landed and I poked my head out, only to see a dog come running up to me. It was as tall as my knee at the shoulder and colored black, tan, and gray. It trotted the last few meters and began sniffing my hand.
We had landed in a very large yard. I could see a pool inside a fence and a little slide and swing set. Ahead of me was a big, green house. Not gray-green, but grass-green.
We knocked on the back door and the girl I had met earlier opened it. She looked at Donna and said, "Have you met Rose yet?"
Donna looked confused, but I just felt the usual rush of memories and sinking feeling of being reminded of Rose.
