Jimin was very excited. It seemed as though he had found a new friend, one that he would actually be around most of the time. It helped that she seemed to like him as well, and also that he just found out they had the same homeroom. When Tzuyu walked into Mrs. Jihyo's classroom, he waved to her, but she didn't notice. He was sitting in the back, but it also seemed that all of her attention seemed to be focused on a certain girl who Jimin did not know, that looked rather scary.
Why is she smirking at Tzuyu? She looks like she's staring a hunk of meat... Jimin thought, but then noticed that Tzuyu had been placed right next to her. Poor Tzuyu.... This will be a hard year for her if she has to sit next to that girl...
A few seconds later he was graced with knowing her name, from the teacher yelling at her for not paying attention. Chaeyoung, eh? Do not hurt my new friend.... Jimin felt rather protective of Tzuyu for some reason, even though they did not know each other very well. A few minutes later he heard an argument break out between the two girls, and he clenched his fists, glaring at Chaeyoung. When he heard the teacher give them each a detention, he felt he had to restrain himself from standing up and loudly protesting.
Not like I'd be able to anyways, I'm too shy... He thought miserably to himself as he watched Tzuyu get helplessly punished.
At least there was another shy girl in the room as well, the new one with the long red hair.
Mina, I think her name was... My, she's pretty! Jimin watched her covertly as her her fell into place, covering her eyes. Perhaps we can also be friends, Jimin had a lot of hope today. He was tired of having no friends in his old school, where his shyness grew with every passing grade. When the bell rang, he decided to approach the redhead, and attempt to use some of his rarely-practiced social skills.
"Hey," He tapped her on her shoulder, and she turned around to look at him. He suddenly felt a little weak, and croaked out, "My, my name's... uh... Jimin. You're also a new student? Where are you from?"
"I'm from Japan." The girl promptly said and turned away.
"Wait! Do you want to be friends?" Jimin was not about to let this oppertunity pass.
"Did you seriously just ask me if I wanted to be your friend?" The redhead turned again and chuckled, "I don't think that's how it works. You're supposed to just... become friends, I guess. But I mean, why not." She smiled gracefully at him. "Not like I know anyone else here."
"Great! Do we share any other classes?" Jimin asked, "Can I see your schedule?"
But Mina's response was not what he was hoping for, "I have to go now or I'll be late. We can chat some other time." She walked away, into the mob of students rushing to their respective classrooms.
Jimin peeked at his schedule, he had gym now. He had absolutely no idea where it was, however, and so wandered around for a few minutes. He froze when he felt a strong hand on his shoulder, and turned around to see a young man in a basketball outfit.
"Hey, you're one of the new kids, right? You look lost. My name's V." He gave a cute smile that made Jimin's heart skip a beat. "I was just headed to the gym. Do you have next period there too?"
Jimin nodded and blushed, unaware of why he felt so strange around this well-muscled boy, but he continued to walk with him down the hallway. When he finally got the courage to speak, he asked, "Wait, your name is V? Isn't it supposed to be longer? I'm Jimin by the way."
"Oh yeah, my real name's Taehyung, but everyone calls me V." He smiled again and they both stepped into the gymnasium. Jimin gasped when he saw it's huge size and the throng of people running around inside.
"Come on, I'll show you around. These are the locker rooms," He pointed at the door leading to where the boys would change. "I hope you brought some spare clothes for gym?"
"Uh, no. I didn't know we needed to," Jimin muttered shyly.
"It's ok, I got an extra set. You can borrow it," V offered kindly. They stepping inside and V directed him to a set of lockers.
"Since this is your first week, you can change with us. But if you make some friends or anything, you can join their row instead." V pulled an extra pair of shorts and a shirt out of his locker, threw them to Jimin, and proceeded to take his outfit off. Jimin could only stare at his muscular abdomen as his shirt slid smoothly over his chest before snapping out of his trance. Looking around, he barely glanced at his other locker mates, who nodded, before he turned around and shyly pulled his own long-sleeved shirt off. He was about to slip on the shirt V let him borrow when he heard the other boy call out in wonder.
"Yah... Man, you're ripped! Those muscles.... incredible! Do you work out 10 hours each day or something? Turn around!" V exclaimed.
Jimin turned around, revealing the deep indents of his abs and v-line. All of the boys in his locker row turned to look, a few with their mouth agape. He then quickly pulled V's borrowed shirt over his head and blushed, embaressed from all the attention.
"Holy hell! Are you on the basketball team?" V asked, only to see Jimin shake his head. "You need to join, bud. It'd be a waste of muscle otherwise."
Jimin glanced at his arm, flexed it, and admired the rippling bulges that stuck out. He was naturally muscular, and he enjoyed going to the gym anyways, so it had turned into a pastime for him. It was often quiet at the gym and he was able to focus his thoughts. However, he hadn't realized he had gotten this buff, and made a mental note to cut back on his visits to the fitness center.
"Eh," Jimin shrugged, picking up his borrowed shorts. "I'll have to think about it." He didn't know if he would be interested normally, but for some reason the thought of seeing V there drew him.
"Alright man, you do that." V patted him on the back, and Jimin turned away from him again, blushing. As he pulled on his shorts, the red glow didn't fade like usual, because he swore he could feel a pair of eyes looking him over the whole time he was changing.
------------------------------------
Jimin trodded across the soccer field the coach had assigned to them for their first day. After leaving the gym, he reflected on how thankful he was that V had let him borrow his clothes. Sweat was dripping down his back, and he continually panted. He could see heat waves rolling off the pavement of the nearby parking lot, and he wiped some of the moisture off his forehead with the back of his hand. He heard a whistle blow as the soccer ball flew through the net, and started walking towards the water cooler, where all his teammates were heading, since the whistle signified a break. As he grabbed a cup to fill with water, he glanced at the people standing around him.
"Hey man, good job on the field," A guy with his long blonde hair flipped up in a quiff said to Jimin, as he patted him on the back. Jimin recognized him as one of his locker neighbors.
"Thanks. I used to play soccer when I was little. You wern't too bad either," Jimin recalled the boy shooting multiple goals. "Hey, I don't believe I introduced myself. I'm Jimin." He managed to surprise himself with the fact that he didn't feel very shy anymore. Perhaps this new school would work out well for him.
"Nice to meet you. You can call me RM," The boy said, then added, "Hey, why don't you join the soccer club? We could use your skills." RM kindly offered.
"Uh, thanks for the offer, but I'm already joining the basketball team." Jimin suddenly felt a need to stick with V.
"Alright, that's too bad. I figured V got you hooked when he lent you your gym clothes," he let out a throaty laugh and shook Jimin's hand. "Nice meeting you anyways. I'm glad you're on our team for this part of the year."
Jimin grinned, then wondered why the boy called himself RM. He was about to ask, but right at the moment the coach called everyone back out onto the field, and Jimin was forced to comply. He was sad V wasn't on his team, but this nice man was here, and he seemed alright. Trotting back out onto the field, he glanced at the adjacent one where V was kicking a ball around and felt a longing in his heart. Unsure of where it was coming from, he brushed it off and tried to focus on playing with his own team, but it was impossible with the handsome young man skillfully scoring goals in the corner of his vision.
Sighing, he regretfully thought to himself, This school may be giving me more than I bargained for.
