I had no idea hashtags had any other use aside from being a number sign. I have no idea what these hashtags do but my brother Kohen said they would help me with likes and gaining popularity.
That's the whole reason I got an Instagram. It's so confusing: you share photos with a caption, and people just scroll through their Instagram feeds and "like" it? That's it, you just post and like photos. I thought that's what Facebook was for — and you could post statuses and play games on Facebook.
Kohen just laughed at me when I asked him what followers did, and why did I have to follow so many accounts?
I decided my first post would be a selfie. Now, I'm not a makeup type of person. Sometimes I'll dab a bit of mascara on my eyes, maybe a tinted lip balm, but that's about it. The whole point of me opening up to social media was so I could become the best me I could ever be, so I searched up a YouTube video on makeup for beginners, tried to follow the high pitched girl, and took my first ever proper "selfie".
It didn't turn out as bad as I thought it would. Even Kohen raised his eyebrows impressively at me.
