What was she giggling at? God she was so frustrating back then. That night she wasn't my date. She wasn't mine.
I was completely taken by her that night. She never did look like a child. But she looked all woman. Stunning in a tight strapless dress. Not the 18 year old I'd hid myself from.
"Yes, you both look wonderful" I interjected "And Monica, not a day over 25 I'm sure. I'm jealous not to be escorting such a beautiful woman myself."
"Oh Marco! At 31 would 25 not be a little young for you?" She giggled and i inwardly cringed at her reference to age, 25 being too you I may have been royally fucked with their daughter. "32 as of May Monica, but your only as old as the woman you feel!"
I heard a scoff and realised it came from Niamh, "Do you disagree Naimh?"
Her face paled. I hadn't meant to put her on the spot. "Then again your mother couldn't be 25, though she must have been young when you were born."
Monica giggled again "Oh Reggie, isn't he a flatterer. I think we should keep him past September, just to boost my ego as I stray further into my 40's"
Reggie had a smile, though I weary of it. "Then again, I'm sure Mr.Gamarra is far more flattering than me." Reggie patted my shoulder, "You're a good man Marco" he laughed deeply. "You and your father should ride with us, your humour is fantastic son!"
As the limos arrived at the gala my father exited with Reggie and Monica and next to me was the young Sophia. She looked like she was about to enjoy this evening as much as me.
"Hey, Sophia, what's got your beautiful face so blue?" She blushed at my remark. "Niamh always looks so beautiful and has someone to escort her, then there's me. I'm know I'm only 15 but still."
"Well how about I get you one of New York's most eligible Bachelors too escort you?" She smiled "who?!"
I put on a winning grin "me!" She giggled and blushed furiously. "Oh I'd like that!"
With that I exited the Limo holding my hand out to her, which she took gracefully.
As we walked I noticed Niamh's eyes dart towards me and she wasn't happy. Her eyes were striking when she was angry. I chose to pretend to be completely oblivious as we walked into the gala.
Once inside Sophia thanked me for escorting herand Skipped off happily to her to her parents who didn't seem to mind that I'dwalked in with her. With all this happening I almost didn't notice Niamhgrabbing my arm and demanding to speak to me in the hall.
