"So, I don't mean to be rude or blunt but what are you? You obviously survived the carnage that happened here. Are there others like you?" I said softly as I plucked things off the make shift table and examined them.

Nyko was rummaging through a basket when I had spoken and he turned around abruptly to make sure I was to hear the next thing that came out of his mouth.

"First of all sky girl, stop touching my things!" He exclaimed as he snatched the bottle out of my hand and slammed it onto the table. I flinched to say the least but he didn't scare me all that much.

"I am apart of a clan, we call ourselves Trikru, which in your terms would be translated to Tree people. I am their healer, there are many different clans but we are one of the biggest for this area. And you even being here is like treason."

"You know I mean no harm, or so I hope you know. I just didn't want to be involved with my people anymore. There actions don't appeal to me at this moment in time. I decided it was best for me to go off on my own and make the most of being down here on the ground." I confessed.

Nyko looked at me with wide eyes, as if he didn't believe someone like me would want to leave a place with protection and shelter. "Truly, if you don't mind, I'd actually like to learn more about the way you live. I like being on my own and taking care of myself. Hell I've been doing it for the past ten years. I want to survive by the basics of the earth and not mess around like my people are. I actually want to try to gain a new life." I insisted.

Nyko walked over to me slowly and breathed, "Taim yu drag raun, taim yu ge ban au."  I scrunched my face in confusion. "If you fall behind, you get left behind." I smiled and took that as my welcoming to Trikru.

"First things first, lets get that stupid band off of you otherwise they'll know you aren't apart of them." I nodded and held out my wrist, he took a knife and slid it underneath the band and wiggled it around prying it off. Rubbing my wrist I say, "Will you teach me how to fight?" He shakes his head no and I step to speak up but he beats me to it.

"I have someone who can teach you to fight and keep this a secret until you're acting full on Trikru." He announced. I nodded, "And who by any chance would that be?"

"His name is Artigas, he's training to be a warrior. He can teach you what he's learning and then we will go from there after you've gotten the basics down."

"Where will I stay? Here with you..or do you know someone else I can go with and be safe for a period of time."

Nyko perked his head up and turned his nose towards the ceiling. "I haven't thought about that actually, I suppose Artigas family won't out you. They are kind people. I will mention you later today and I'm sure they will take you in." A sigh of relief came from me and I sat down.

"Thank you," I paused, "for everything." Nyko stood up and pat my shoulder with a comforting force. Life was going to be different. It was going to be efficient and normal. A town with people who cared about each other and fought for their life to have a place on this earth. I was ready for this change. Everything that would happen to me next was all thanks to Nyko and his warm heart.
