Chocolate Day

Day 3: Chocolate Day ( February 9)

Takao fiddled with the ribbon on the box in his hand as he impatiently waited for Midorima put away his empty bentou box.

He didn't go through all that yesterday evening for nothing.......

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Flashback~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"Kazu-nii, what do you want?", Kaori asked exasperatedly as she caught her elder brother sneaking around the kitchen for what seemed like the hundredth time. "Can't you see I'm busy? I need to get these chocolates done by tonight so I can give them out tomorrow."

Takao came out from behind the door smiling sheepishly , " Hehe, sorry." Then after a bit of hesitation, " Kaori.....c..could you teach me how to make chocolates?"

"Oooh who's it for?" she asked with a sly look on her face.

"It's none of your business!" Takao said indignantly.

"Fine I wont teach you then." , pat came the smug reply.

"Fine." Takao snapped and stormed back to his room.

~ 5 minutes later~

Takao had his face buried in his pillow cursng himself.........He sat up and grabbed the hawk plushie on his nightstand

'How am I going to make the chocolates now', he wondered looking at the beady eyes of the soft toy nestled in his hands. He suddenly remembered the rehearsal from yesterday

"I love you"

Takao buried his blushing face in the pillow again, 'It was just a play for God's sake!! He didn't mean it! But his voice was so......ARGH NOT HELPING!!!! Stupid Shin-chan and his stupid angelic smile and his stupid pretty green eyes and.......and I've lost it,haven't I?'

Takao sighed, he had to do something. After much debate he decided to learn on his own. He quickly hopped into his chair at the study table and typed away furiously on the keyboard........

~20 minutes later~

Takao had all the ingredients ready and the moment he made sure Kaori had gone back to her room, he spread them on the counter and looked back and forth at them and the recipe in his hand, mentally rehearsing the steps. He rolled back his sleeves and put on an apron.

"Yosh! let's do this!"

~Another 20 minutes and a huge mess later~

"I can't do this!" he exclaimed dramatically as he face planted the counter. Looking at all his waste attempts only disheartened him further................there was only one way left now.....

Swallowing his pride he walked to his sister's room and knocked on her door.

Kaori opened the door and was welcomed by the sight of a very distraught and messy Kazunari in a pink apron with printed yellow ducks. He wouldn't meet her eyes.

"I....I'm sorry for being rude earlier. So c...can you help me out with those chocolates."

Her heart melted at the sight, if her brother was willing to go so far as to apologise to get those chocolates done, then the girl receiving them must be really special.

She smiled gently, "No, onii-chan was right, it isn't any of my business whom those chocolates are for. Come on I'll make them for you."

"No!" Takao exclaimed,then hastily added, "I mean....I want to make them on my own.......just....just teach me how to make them."

"Alright" Kaori smiled. She was happy that her brother had found someone he loved so much and watched amused as she taught him how to make a variety of chocolates. One thing kept nagging her though........wasn't it the girl who did the chocolate giving?

"Ne , Shin-chan~"

Midorima sighed, "What is it Takao"

"Well my sister made these chocolates and she wanted to know what someone other than me thought about it" he explained while mentally cursing himself for coming up with such a lame reason. 'What if he saw through-'

"Okay."

'Heh? He fell for it?' Takao thought as he handed the chocolates to Midorima and watched as he carefully unwrapped the box and chose one of the various treats and popped one into his mouth. Most people wouldn't have noticed but from where Takao was sitting down near Midorima's feet, he had an excellent view of the small smile that curled on the shooting guard's lips although taped fingers tried to hide it by pushing up the glasses which rested on his nose. And that tiny smile made Takao insanely happy, but he still waited for the verbal verdict.

"Well?" he asked impatiently.

"They were delicious." Midorima stated simply.

Before Takao could say another word, the bell rang causing them to hurry for their class.

As they walked to the rear car and cycle after club activities, Takao was shocked to find Kaori waiting there. 'What on earth is she doing here?!' Before he could ask her the exact same question, Midorima spoke up,

"Thank you for the chocolates Kaori-san, they were extremely well made."

"Chocolates? Wha-" , Suddenly she noticed her brother's panic stricken face and put two and two together. Oh this was priceless! Could it be............could it be that all these years she had been searching for the perfect Shounen-ai and it had been unfolding right under her nose?! Did Shizuna know about it?!

She played along for the moment,"Oh really? Thank you! I'm glad you liked the chocolates 'I' made.....right onii-chan?" she asked her brother sweetly. She quickly excused herself saying she had a few errands to run and gave her brother a look which clearly meant, 'Wait till you get home'

The moment she left Shutoku's grounds she took out her phone and called Midorima's younger sister, "OHMYGOD SHIZUNA-CHAN YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE WHAT I FOUND OUT TODAY!!"
