Morning came and Kylo Ren and General Hux both woke up, dragging their tired bodies languidly from their beds to get dressed and look presentable for the day ahead of them.
Once the two were done freshening up, they headed towards their designated work areas.
So far, everything was normal.
Of course, Hux barked out a few orders and Ren trained for a short while but as time drew on, they both started to remember the conversation they had shared the other night.
Hux had felt like Kylo Ren was starting to warm up to him and he could say the same. It was a shame he didn't see the Knight of Ren anywhere today. Then again, one or the other is always busy with work during the day. Which was why their leisurely night walks had become part of their routine.
Kylo Ren on the other hand was starting to feel enamored of the General. The conversation he held with Hux had made him feel content. Someone to open up to and actually listen! Kylo smiled to himself as he gathered his clothes. Training was over for the day and he didn't want to overwork himself again. There were times he went over his limitations.
The day was coming to a close. The sky was darkening, the night crew was taking charge and the usual bustling people and sounds had quieted to a more tranquil atmosphere.
Kylo had waited for Hux for a few minutes before being greeted by the redhead.
"Busy day today, huh?" Hux asked. Bright turquoise irises gazing at the rooms they passed by. To think that a few hours ago, this whole place was full of troops doing their daily routine and training.
Ren nodded in agreement. "It was but we managed to survive this hectic day." He said before taking off his helmet.
General Hux looked over to the Knight of Ren. Tresses of ebony fell down Ren's shoulders as he removed his helmet. A soft exhale escaped Kylo's lips afterwards. It was nice taking off the helmet every once in a while.
The soft tapping of the two's rhythmic steps echoed throughout the base. Starkiller Base was much more peaceful at night. It was one of the things Kylo and Hux both liked. Nighttime. A time where the stars hold the mysteries of the vast galaxy from its inhabitants.
Hux let out an impetuous sigh. He was exasperated. But he attempted to not go to sleep just to see Kylo and do their nightly routine.
Kylo was tired as well. With all the training going on, he wanted to relax. He only stayed up to see Hux. They were both looking forward to this moment.
The two walked together, admiring the wondrous features that we're mostly little things like Kylo's helmet hair or how relaxed the General was around this time.
"I best be heading off to my quarters. Wouldn't want to fall asleep on the job." Hux spoke, chuckling lightly at the thought.
Ren nodded. "Of course, General. Although, I think I would find it funny to see you asleep at your desk. It would be cute even."
Hux felt his face grow flush. Cute. Oh goodness who would've known that simple word would get him so bashful? Kylo Ren smiled at the reaction. General Hux was charming, handsome, cute. All of those adjectives.
"You're as red as your hair, Hux." Kylo laughed. It was something Hux would have never thought he would ever hear from him. Genuine laughter. It was the most wonderful sound he had heard.
"Ha ha," the general started in a teasing tone. "Very funny."
Stopping at the hall to their quarters, Hux placed a hand on Kylo Ren's shoulder gently. "I like it when you don't where your helmet." The redhead said rather softly. It was an unusual tone coming from him.
Kylo stood there for a moment, frozen. Feeling the hand on his shoulder slide off of him, he watched as Hux went towards the door to his room.
"Goodnight, Ren."
"Goodnight, Hux."
