Darkness of the Soul

Marceline's POV

Finn wasn't feeling well so we didn't get pie from Tree Trunks, instead we went to see the sunset and on the way there we talked about ourselves. The sunset was amazing. Finn told me to sit in front of him and when I did he brought me face close to his, his hands were so warm. He was staring into my eyes with a happy smile however that smile quickly faded when his eyes averted from mine. He looked a little scared then he hugged me. Finn you idiot, you should have kissed me. He apologised out of nowhere. I felt tired then my eyes closed, I could sense a powerful danger closeby. When I started to wake up, there was a warm slimy feeling on my hand and the sound of coughing. "Finn?" I said groggily. Finn was unconscious in pool of blood and nasty looking black stuff. I shook him but he didn't respond. Not again. Why does this alway happen? I picked him up and flew him to the candy kingdom. He was running a fever and his muscles twitched. Bonnie had the doctors look him over. "Bonnie, we does this keep happening to him?" I cried into Bonnie's shoulder. She hugged me and patted my back. 

"I wish he would just open up and tell us what's going on with him so that we can help him." Bonnie sighed, it was calming being like this with Bonnie.

"Mmm I know, I just want to live a long happy life...he was finally starting to open up you know? But he just saw something and he flipped out and put my under a sleep spell then when I came too he was laying there in a pool of blood and gunk." I explained, 

"...Xenovia! No! Comeback! Wait!...Wait...Wait for me...please...don't leave me alone!" Finn cried out, I ran into the the room and saw Finn standing on the bed with tears running down his face, he was breathing heavily and sweat dripped of his skin. 

Finn's POV

The sky was grey and ground was crimson. Where was I? Suddenly familiar corpses appear on the ground, all people I've killed, I realised I was standing in a sea of  their blood. The corpses started to move their hands were pulling me down. They were all chanting 'you killed me!' I was being dragged down in blood that I spilled. I was drowning. A light appeared above me, I reached out and everything turned white. I was standing before the Lich. "Finn the hero is impure, dirty, bloody and a murderer." the Lich pointed at me. My hands were wrapped around Jane's throat, her face had turned blue and her eyes had rolled back into her, her body was limp. 

"So what? I killed people, so have you. You think will break me?" I snarled, 

"What about them?" the Lich pointed to a fire. I watched as it burned, it screamed and cried. "And them?" I cut down person after person. Man, Woman, child and elderly. There was so much blood. They cried for mercy begged for end to the slaughter. "Them?" an orphanage, I handed one of the kids a box of food the following today I returned and they were all dead. 

"Why are you showing this to me Lich?" I questioned, 

"How about her?" the Lich pointed to a girl with short messy red hair and wild blue eyes. She wore torn blue jeans and a tight red singlet. She carried a red backpack and a sword on her back. I pointed to the forest and whispered something. She nodded and started running. 

"...Xenovia! No! Comeback! Wait!...Wait...Wait for me...please...don't leave me alone!" I begged.

I woke up on top of a hospital bed, Marceline looked confused and upset, Bubblegum look angry and puzzled. The nurses looked horrified and terrified. I fell over because legs had become weak and I wasn't used to to standing again. "Finn? You're okay?" Marcy asked, 

"Umm yeah I think so. Do you mind waiting outside for a minute? I need to talk to PB." I sighed, Marceline looked so sad as she left the room. PB slapped me across the face. 

"What the glob Finn!" Bonnie exclaimed, 

"Calm down. Just let me explain." I pleaded, 

"I'm listening but if I don't like what have to say I'm going to hit you again." Bonnie glared, 

"...It's called Pandora's Box. A human creation, it's some type of technology that fuses with a human, it's essentially a weapon. Anyway it's purpose is to seal away anything within the body of its host. The catch is that it poisons the host with a poison that eats away at the body so to combat that problem I sealed away the souls of everyone in the settlement." I explained, 

"So you're saying that's what healed you?" Bonnie frowned, 

"No. Pandora's Box only seals things. It can't heal me. However due to it's power it brings out the evil potential in all creatures capable of sensing it. As it happens the evilest creature lives in Ooo, the Lich attacked Marcy and I while we were at the beach. I divided the Lich into body, soul and power then sealed him in Pandora's Box. His power restored my body however it also consumed the souls I had stored up, now Pandora's Box is killing me. I've got about a week before it will start reach my brain." I continued, 

"...Finn... " PB had a tear in the corner of her eye. 

"It's alright, I've come to terms with it. I only came back to Ooo to see Jake anyway but since he's not around it's been a bit of a rollercoaster knowing that Marcy's here for me is the only thing that's kept me going and I don't want her to burn herself out by constantly worrying about me. So over the next week I'm going to give her happy memories and I'm going to make sure there are lots people to help out with I'm gone." I put my hand on her shoulder. 

"Why are you telling me all this?" She cried, 

"There will be times when I need you to distract Marcy so I can make preparations and I...needed...to tell someone about it, I figured you'd understand so yeah." I smirked sadly.
