What's It All About, Maine?

Part Four

It has been a week since that hatiran thing happened. Maine did not say a word to her friends about it. Even though most of the time her friends' topic was how gwapo, bait at talino Alden is. Given na kasi na mukhang crush ng bayan sa campus si Alden. But to everybody's surprise, dedma lang siya. Yes, he would smile when someone he doesn't know would greet him. Most of the girls, giggled every time he passes by their hallways. Model looking naman kasi.

Within that week, Alden and Maine would bump into each other at the hallway... Alden would look at her and smile. But Maine would just smile back then shrug afterwards.

"Ay smile lang. Hahaha! Wala lang naman yun kasi, Meng. Huwag kang assuming. Girls are head over heels with Alden... Most of them pretty girls pa, but to no avail, panay tango lang siya. Ikaw pa?! Ang common mo kaya... Huwag ka ngang...", Maine thought to herself.

The following week was a busy day for the CA, Foundation week. They plan to have bands on the last day, so by Friday most of the Architecture students are in the campus grounds/soccer field, ng mga 8pm til who knows what time. Ah college days!

Maine never planned to go, kasi every year yata ganun na lang. Plus the fact, Judie's not coming anymore. Busy sa project, her groupmates will pass it the following day, Saturday.

Anyways...

It was Wednesday when while she's about to go home, Alden tapped her shoulder.

"Pauwi ka na, Maine?", he asked while grinning, showing his cute dimple on his left cheek.

She was a bit shocked but didn't wan to show it.

"Oo. Baka mahirap na sumakay eh.", Maine said while slowly walking backwards. Alden quickly grabbed her right arm when she almost bumped to a professor. Maine now really tried her best to hide her blush.

"Eh di pasabay ulit ha... Hirap maglakad ng walang kausap pag palabas ng campus. Ang haba ng nilalakad palabas ng gate."

"Para namang nag-uusap tayo.", she thought. "Salamat ngapala nung last time ha." Maine voiced out.

Alden just smiled.

"Ayan. Dedma. Pahiya ka no?", Maine thought, while thinking of knocking her forehead with her knuckles. Tsk.

For Maine, for three years she's been going in and out the campus, that must have been the longest walk she took. Alas, they reached the gate. Maine didn't even bother to look at Alden anymore, she hurriedly crossed the street, exact time when a jeepney going to Cubao stopped in front of her, she hurriedly rode the jeep. Maine was startled when someone sat beside her. And when she glanced at it, she gasped.

"Alden! Saan ka pupunta?", said the two girls from Maine's left side practically talking to Alden who sat on Maine's right side, basically, she is seated between them.
