I wholeheartedly recommend that after you read this bold text announcement that you play the song above to get a better feel of the story. Happy reading

I take in a deep breath.

(Wish by Olivia Lufkin is being practiced by the band.)

Gabe blares the bass. The beat of Luke's drum makes my insides thud.
Kian's smooth guitar makes my body move to the thudding rhythm.

Gabe makes the bass blare out it's final cord before we all freeze absorbing our progress.

"Needs work" Gabe said scratching his head.

I lowered my head. "Yea" I said unsure if I wanted to agree or disagree.

"Not to be rude but aren't the lyrics kind of choppy?" Luke said trying to avoid my gaze.

"I personally think it's fine." Kian replied.

Gabe began to take his guitar off from around his shoulders. He looks like he is thinking pretty hard about our song peice.

"What do you think Sy? You're the songwriter and lead vocalist. Any thoughts?" Luke said pointing to me with his drum stick.

I began to think about how much blood, sweat, and tears we put into this band.

Our very first performance was infort of Lakeshore Mall on Christmas Eve.

I got the offer to sing for Gabe freshman year when Gabe said he needed a vocalist for a ghost gig with his three man band.

He said he wasn't good at working with new people and since he is my best friend, he insisted I audition.

In this very same garage. I sang 'Winter Sleep' by Trapnest.

After singing. Gabe, Kian, and Luke gave me the opportunity for the Christmas Eve Ghost Gig.

I didn't quite know what a 'ghost gig' was. But I soon found out that it is a random 'concert' that takes place in a area with a lot of people.

A lot of people + music + cheering = publicity.

From that point on, we became Under-Flare

Ever since that gig, we have been well known around Black Pines. And the best part about this whole thing is that we are so popular but so incognito at the same time.

Nobody knows who we are which makes people question.

"Who really are Under-Flare

"Don't you think we are missing a little. . . Mmph?" I say crossing my arms.

"What do you mean?!" Kian said cocking his head at me.

"I mean!" I said glaring at him. "I think we could put a more soulful and airy tune for songs like 'Wish'

"Maybe a keyboard" I suggested looking each one of them in the eye.

I knew that this was a tough pill for them to swallow but I'm not the type of person to NOT say what I'm thinking.

"Great idea princess, but no member in Under-Flare plays keyboard." "Keep dreaming" he said harshly with a hint of sarcasm.

"It was just a suggestion" I said defending myself.

"Yea, and let's keep it at that" he spat.

I was getting more annoyed. The tip of my ears started to burn from the amount of frustration I was too nice to air out.

"Fine" my voice shaking with irritation.

"No, hold on." Gabe said holding up a finger. "There's no harm in trying to give Sy's suggestion some thought."

Luke leaned on his drums shaking his head in agreement.

"I'm curious to find out what a new instrument would sound like." It could be a good change." Luke said.

Gabe added "we have been playing the same three instruments for four years." " We also need to one up our major gig from last year and this could be the perfect way to do it."

"Maybe we can announce tryouts for a pianists" Luke said yawning.

"Yea, and it could be the one thing that breaks our performance." Kian narrowed his eyes at Gabe. "Weren't you the one that said you didn't get along with new people!"

Gabe coughed, "I never said that this was going to be permanent Kian, we can simply hold tryouts to see if a keyboard can give us that extra mmph."

"I can't believe your actually going through with this, out of all people." Kian said looking away from Gabe.

"I'm up for trying anything." Gabe replies scratching the back of his head.

"Our one shot at making it big is a little less than six months away so I'm more than happy to get any help we can get."

That's right the IHeartRadio Awards. I had forgotten for a moment there. But how could I forget?

This could be our chance to show what we're made of. Winning that rookie award could be our mile stone in history.

"Fine!" Kian said finally giving up the argument.

"But what are we gonna do about people that audition?"

"What do you mean?" Luke asked.

"Nobody knows who the Under-Flare members look like." "If random people came, our identities will be discovered and that's so not cool.

"No worries!" Luke said jumping up from his seat.

"I have a plan."
