"Zaria wake up! School starts in 2 hours!"
"Ugh... 10 more minutes!" I muffled into my pillow, throwing the blanket over my face to block out the sunlight from burning my eyes.
"Do you want to go to school a mess?"
"And do I really look like I would care?"
My cousin, Amy, was visiting for a couple of days, and finally today was her last day. "You need to wake up! Basketball practice today!" She took the blanket off of me. My eyes went wide and looked at the calender, which read April 8th. "CRAP!" I yelled, jumping out of bed and looking through my closet for something to wear. Amy knew that when I hear the word "Basketball," I will get up. Through millions of clothes, I chose an outfit and ran into the shower.
~20 minutes later~
I came out in my own unique style; A snap-back that had Miami Heat written in white, My air Jordans' which were brand new since I bought them yesterday, My New York sweater and my shorts where matching like always. Amy looked up the stairs and smiled. "My little cousin has her own sense of style," She said, taking out her phone and snapping a quick picture. I rolled my eyes and slid down the railing. I went over to the kitchen and grabbed me a green apple, since I like to stay healthy and grabbed my panda book bag. "Well, I'm off!" I said, taking a bite out of the apple. Amy chuckled and looked at the time. "I won't be here when you get back, So text me when you get home!"
"Yeah! See you later Amy!" I said before grabbing my skateboard and rolling off into town. The city was nothing like Florida, But I enjoyed the sound of cars driving and men working. "Good morning, Zaria!" Mr. Crass said, taking off his hard hat, wiping the sweat off of his face. He stood tall with this greyish hair and dark hazel eyes. "Going to school?" He asked, rubbing my head. I nodded and gave him a wide smile, Knowing that my smile always brighten his day. I said goodbye as he went back to work on a "Special" project for me. School was 3 blocks away so I took the long way around into the big city. Traffic, Traffic, and so much more traffic covered the streets. Men and women roaming the streets in fancy suits and cell phones walked passed me, looking for a cab. I picked up the pace and started to run, looking at the time which read 7:12. "Still got some time," I said to myself. I went to get some breakfast from my local bakery and rushed to school. Northwood High, Home of the Bulldogs... I've always said that name in my head, thinking that this school would become better, But there's nothing I can do about it. I walked into the school doors and the hallways were quiet, Since I always come here early to avoid the big crowd of the popular kids. Ms. Barton, My English teacher, walked down the halls with her new purple dress. "Hello Ms. Smith," She said in her calm and joyful voice. I felt like I threw up on the inside every time she talks in that tone of voice. "H-Hello Ms. Barton, You look nice today," I lied. She smiled and twirled around, I could do nothing else but look at her in disgust, To tell you the truth, Red is a better color .
"We'll be having a new student in our class today, Make sure you give him a warm welcome!" She said before walking off, drinking her cup of coffee. 'New student?' I thought in my mind. 'It better not be a girl..' I put my skateboard in my locker and made sure my basketball and my gym clothes were there in peace. The bell rang and I heard a bunch of footsteps echoing closer and closer. "Crap.." I said before sprinting to my homeroom, where the NORMAL kids sat.
"Good morning, Zaria." Mr. Higgins said with a smile. He was also my gym teacher, and I have to say, He's pretty good at what he does. "Open the doors because the beauty queen has arrived!" A girlish type voice said, walking into the room. I sighed loudly in disgust and saw that it was nobody other than Brooke, The popular cheerleader, The "Hottest" girl in school, And head of the cheer leading club. Plus, Me and her DON'T get along. She looked up in my direction and snickered, I just rolled my eyes as she sat down with the other popular girls at the popular side of the classroom. To be serious, I only talk to the normal type of people.
"Oh my god! I like totally have a new boyfriend right now!" She said, squealing with the other girls.
"You mean the new guy, Jared?!" One of the girls said, painting her nails.
Brooke nodded and gave me a silent death glare in the corner of her eye. I chuckled and gave her a glare back. "We all know your on your period so why don't you stuff your mouth with some chocolate?" I said rather loudly. People started to laugh and Brooke looked at me, throwing her nail polish onto the ground. "H-How did you.." She mumbled, shaking her head and cracked a ugly smile. "T-This isn't over, SMITH!" She yelled before picking up her things and doing a fashion walk out of the room. "For a week." I busted out with laughter.
