It was Friday night and you were finally done with your work for the week. You decided to head straight home were your boyfriend, that was coming today from his American tour, was supposed to be waiting for you. You haven’t been with him for almost two months so you expected to be spending the night cuddling with him on the couch, watching a movie, stuffing yourselves with junk food and telling each other all the news, basically just catching up about all the things you did when you were apart.
“michael, are you home yet?” you called as soon as you entered your apartment. There was no response so you assumed that he wasn’t there yet. You took your heels and your jacket off and went to the kitchen to grab something to eat. You picked up an apple and an yogurt and went to the living room. You settled yourself in and turned the tv on. Suddenly, out of the nowhere, a clip of Michael started to play.
«(Y/N), since the day I met you I thought that you had something special. I felt that meting you that way in the park wasn’t just a coincident. I somehow knew that you’d be important in my life. That’s why in that very day I came back to that park hopping to be able to find you. And there you were, sitting at the same bench I left you a couple hours early, still entertained reading your book. I stared at you for a while, I thought about leaving but somehow I found the courage to approach you once again. So I took a deep breath and came closer. I remember every single word I said to you that moment and every single feeling that conversation gave me. Then I walked you home and you gave me your number. I know you probably thought that I was a bit clingy when I text you after a couple hours asking you on a date but I couldn’t help it. Then our first date came. It that was perfect. After that, many came and after a few I finally got the courage to tell you that I loved you and that I wanted you to be my girlfriend. I still love you, more than the day one. You know me better than anyone ever did. You know my flaws and my goods just like I know yours. Well… what I’m trying to say with all this is that is that I don’t think I’ll ever found a person like you, that understands me and that will always will be here for me. So… I have a surprise waiting for you outside. See you in a bit. Love you.»
You couldn’t help your tears from falling off. After a few seconds of crying you cleaned your face and tried you best to look presentable before going outside. You opened the glass doors that lead you to some path in the garden. You strolled through the path until you got to the pool area and lounge area. And there he was. michael was wearing a suit and had some flowers in his hand. Next to him was a table settled for two.
“I’m starting to think that I’m not dressed properly for this” you chuckled pointing out for your outfit and bare feet.
“You look perfect in everything” he smiled and approached “I missed you so much” he said giving you a sweet kiss and a tight hug. You stood like that for a few seconds. You loved his hugs, they always made you feel so secure.
“These are for you” he finally let go of you and handed you the flowers that he carried.
“They are beautiful, michael. Thank you.” You smiled “So… what’s all these?” you said pointing at the candle illuminated table.
“Well… I had something important to tell you and I thought this was the perfect way to do it”
“It is perfect” you said giving him a peck “What did you wanted to tell me?”
michael took a deep breath and then he knelt in front of you. He took a black square velvet box from the pocket on his blazer, which he opened to show a beautiful diamond ring and looked into your starting to get watery eyes.
“Like I said in the video I don’t think I’ll ever found a person that completes me more than you do. That understands me more than you or that will love me more that I know that you will. So… (Y/N), will you marry me?” he asked with his eyes full of hope. Another tear escaped from your eyes. You weren’t expecting this. Sure you thought about it a lot of times but you were completely surprised.
“That would make me the happiest girl alive” you finally choked out. michael quickly slid the ring in your finger and got up to hug you.
“You don’t know how happy those words made me” he whispered to your ear. The dinner was pretty normal. You listened to all his new adventures during the tour and you told him how bored and lonely you felt during those two months. Four months from then you were standing with michae; in a chapel saying ‘yes’.
