Chapter 14;

"Jules, can I talk to you?" Keaton popped his head into Drew's room about an hour later. I had been hysterical laughing over some story Drew had told me.

"What? Oh, yeah. Sure." I smiled, my laughter still slightly present as I stood and followed him out of Drew's room.

"Jules, Brooke's fourth birthday is next week... and I was wondering if you wanted to... to come?" Keaton whispered, and he seemed to choke the words out, physically pained by asking me to visit our daughter.

"Of course." I instantly blurted, not even registering anything but that it was my opportunity to see Brooke.

"Okay." Keaton nodded, a shaky breath falling from his lips. I didn't understand why Keaton was so scared for me to meet Brooke... It wasn't like I hadn't before.

"Oh my god, what do I get her? What do I say? What do I-"

"Jules, calm down." Keaton laughed half heartedly, "We already got her a guitar. That's what she wanted, and baby, she doesn't care what you say. She loves you, it doesn't matter to her."

"She loves me..." I whispered, feeling myself getting choked up.

"Jules. Oh, Jules. Of course she loves you. Your her mommy." Keaton smiled crookedly at me, and a ghost of a smile passed over my lips as I began crying.

"Come here, Jules." Keaton laughed slightly, pulling me into his arms.

Talking about Brooke made me insanely emotional, and I didn't exactly know what the feelings I was experiencing were, in all honesty. I knew I felt regret, desire, and love, but those were about the only emotions I could ever really place.

I regretted ever stepping on that mountain and forgetting her, I desired to meet her, and I loved her so so much.

Although I had never met her, Brooke was still so important to me and the need I felt to protect her was overwhelming.

"Sorry. It's just... it's weird. I've never met her, but I just love her so much." I told Keaton, furiously wiping at my tear streaked face.

"I get it. You felt the same way when you were pregnant. We both did." Keaton kissed my forehead, and I almost jumped through the roof. I hadn't been expecting it, but it was comfortable. It felt familiar.

A smile found its way onto my lips as I looked up at Keaton. He still had both of his arms around me, and I awkwardly pulled away.

"Keaton?" I breathed, and he just looked at me.

"What's up, Juliet?" He questioned.

"Can I see a picture of her?" I asked timidly, and the look of guilt that crossed over Keaton's face almost made me feel guilty for asking.

"Yes. Of course you can. Come on, lets go upstairs or something so we're not just standing here." Keaton took my hand and lead me to our old shared room.

When we reached the room, I took a seat on the bed and Keaton sat beside me. He was close, but we weren't touching.

"This is my favorite picture of her." Keaton handed me his phone, and when I looked down at it, a little blonde girl was staring straight at me. Her eyes were a gorgeous emerald green, and she had the cutest chubby cheeks, and her arms were wrapped tightly around a guitar much too big for her.

My eyes filled with tears once again, and this time around I couldn't help but toss them around Keaton's neck.

"Shh, it's okay. It's okay, Juliet." Keaton rubbed my back in soothing circles, his lips continually pressing to my hair.
