Chapter 18;

I hadn't expected anything to happen, nor had I intended for anything to happen, but it still did, and I fell asleep feeling strange.

When I woke up that morning, Keaton's arm strewn over my waist, a surge of sudden happiness swept through me suddenly after the words he had mumbled to me right before falling asleep last night.

"Juliet?" He had muttered, his eyes hooded.

"What, Keats?" I had laughed softly, my eyes meeting his exhausted ones.

"Will you be my girlfriend?" He whispered, his face nudging into the crook of my neck, and I smiled, kissing his hair.

"Who said I ever stopped being your girlfriend?" I retorted, and he snorted, before kissing the skin on my jawline.

"I'll take that as a yes."

But then I remembered all of the previous day’s events and my entire world seemed to collapse again.

Keaton's arm tightened around my waist, and he nudged his head into my back.

"You awake, Jules?" He whispered with a gruff voice.

"Yeah." I squeaked, sighing as I turned to face him. He lifted his arm from my waist as I did so, dropping it back down when I had accomplished what I wanted to.

"Where do you want to go today?" He murmured, his lips pressing to my forehead.

"Anywhere, but I've been thinking... Tomorrow can we go back to Sequim? For... A while?" I released the breath I hadn't been aware I was depriving myself of, and Keaton studied my face, analyzing my thoughts.

It was like I could feel him reading me like an open book. All he had to do was make sense of the messily unorganized words printed oh so boldly on my forehead.

"You mean until...?" Keaton cut himself off, but he didn't have to finish his sentence. I was glad he hadn't.

"Yes." I choked, burying my head in the crook of his neck. He just moved his hand from my waist to my hair, running his fingers through it softly.

"We can do that." He nodded, and I just tried with all of my might to keep my tears from tumbling down my cheeks.

"I love you." I breathed, and he just held me tighter.

"I love you, too." He breathed back, kissing my forehead repeatedly.

"So where are we going?" I mumbled into his neck, my lips pressing to it occasionally.

"That's still up for discussion. Do you have any last things you want to do before we go to Sequim?" Keaton asked, his lips never leaving my hair.

"No, I don't care." I murmured, and he just smiled against my hair.

"Good. I have something in mind." He whispered, kissing me once before standing up.

"Oh, do you?" I giggled, smiling momentarily before remembering why we had even been cuddling to begin with.

"Yeah. Get dressed." Keaton smiled weakly, the same realization clearly hitting him as he sadly walked into the bathroom.

And I did. I sighed, sitting up and licking my lips as I found a t-shirt of Keaton's and lifted it over my head, pulling on my denim shorts.

"Keaton?" I knocked once, and he pushed the door open, smiling at me.

"Keep that," he mumbled, his lips lazily pressing to my neck, "You look really sexy in it."
