Isabella: so what is it that you want to talk about?

she ask

Phoebe: David ask me to move in with him after we graduation

I said she is in shock

Isabella: what did you say?

she ask

Phoebe: I told him that I need to think about it

I said

Isabella: have you talk to your family doctor?

she ask

Phoebe: hell no I am not talking to Dr. Green

I said

Isabella: no I meant Dr. Flynn

she said jeez I have not talk to Dr. Flynn for a long time

Phoebe: I have not talk to my family doctor for a while

I said

Isabella: will maybe he can help you

she said

Phoebe: maybe he will

I said

Isabella: maybe you can go see him tomorrow

she said

Phoebe: I can't I have to watch Christina Teddy can't do it because he is doing something with Beca

I said

Isabella: I can watch Christina

she said

Phoebe: Isabella you never watch kids before

I said

Isabella: sure I have

she said I sigh

Phoebe: ok fine you can watch Christina

I said she smiled & we drink our coffee.

the next day I drop off Christina at Isabella's & I go to Dr. Flynn

Dr. Flynn: Phoebe. What can I help you with?

I stare down at my knotted fingers. What can I ask?

Phoebe: Dr. Flynn, I've never been in a relationship before, and David is . . . well, he's David. And over the last week or so, a great deal has happened. I haven't had a chance to think things through

Dr. Flynn: What do you need to think through?

I glance up at him, and his head is cocked to one side as he gazes at me with compassion, I think.

Phoebe: Well . . . David ask me to move in with him & he just buy a house . . . er—

I stumble and pause. This is so much more difficult to discuss than I'd imagined. Dr. Flynn sighs

Dr. Flynn: Phoebe, in the very limited time that you've known him, you've made more progress with my patient than I have in the last two years. You have had a profound effect on him. You must see that

Phoebe: He's had a profound effect on me, too. I just don't know if I'm enough. To fulfill his needs

I whisper.

Dr. Flynn: Is that what you need from me? Reassurance?

I nod.

Dr. Flynn: Needs change
