Amaris Solo's jedi training was ended unexpectedly and not the way she would've liked it to end. It started when her power driven brother, Kylo Ren (though back then he was still known as Ben Solo), turned against their master and uncle, Luke Skywalker, and destroyed it all. Every jedi was slain and Luke fled; every jedi except Amaris.

She was given a chance by her brother to join him on the dark side. Though every part of her told her to reject her brother, she knew there was a chance he could still be saved and she couldn't save him if she abandoned him.

So she begrudgingly accepted his offer and tried to make her claim believable.
