CHAPTER 8
-Jessie POV-
It's been a month since I've moved in with Danny. A month since he saved my life. My injuries were healed and I was only left with a few faded scars. I was no longer having to take any type of medication and that put both me and Danny at ease. The beta blockers caused me to have vivid nightmares most nights and I know it was taking a toll on Danny. He was always there to hold me and tell me everything was all right. Thankfully, as soon as I was taken off my medication they stopped and we were both finally able to catch up on much needed sleep.
Danny has since been able to return to work while I was given more time off to recover. It was nice but I was also starting to get a bit bored with being in the house all the time. I'd told Danny this a few nights ago and he'd promised that we would go out on a real date today as soon as he got home.
I was sat in front of the bathroom mirror doing my make-up. Danny said he would be here at 4 and it was 2 already. I went with a light, toned down look with nude lips and simply straightened my hair. Danny told me to dress comfortably so I simply put on leggings and a nice t-shirt since it was warm today.
Just as I finished getting ready I heard the door go and ran excitedly down the steps. Danny was already at the bottom of the stairs waiting for me and I jumped the last few, straight into his arms. He laughed as I wrapped my arms around his neck and my legs around his waist. I immediately planted kisses all over his face.
"Well someone's excited to see me." We shared a passionate kiss before Danny put me down and grabbed my hand.
"You ready to go, gorgeous?" I smiled and nodded before following him out to the car. Danny drove off and switched on the radio before taking my hand in his. A few minutes later, Domino started playing and Danny smiled.
"Hey I like this singer!" I laughed and started playing along.
"Yeah but I heard she can be a total diva."
"Oh yeah I totally agree." I playfully punched him in the arm and started to pout. Arms crossed and all. Danny laughed at me and reached over to grab my hand again.
"She might be a diva but I do love her." He winked at me and I couldn't help but roll my eyes.
The car ride ended up being over an hour long and after a lot of teasing and a few play arguments between us, Danny pulled over on the side of a dirt road. I looked around, confused.
"You're going to kill me aren't you?" Danny erupted in laughter and I think I actually saw tears building up in his eyes.
"No baby girl this is where we're having our date. Just trust me." We both got out of the car and Danny went straight to the back. He had a blanket and picnic basket and I couldn't help but melt a little at how cute he was. He held my hand as he led me to the top of a rather tall grassy hill. We got to the top and on the other side was the most beautiful sight. There was a lake off in the distance surrounded by a rocky shore. As I stood there staring off into the distance Danny set everything up. I turned around to see that Danny had prepared all my favorite foods and he had them spread out on the blanket. I moved to sit down next to him and he wrapped his arm around my waist.
"Danny, this is perfect. I love you so much."
"I love you too, Jess. Eat before it gets dark. I packed a lot." He really did pack a lot. We both ate what we could and Danny put all our leftovers back into the basket. The sun was just starting to set and the sky was so beautiful. I was staring out into the distance as I felt Danny's arms wrap around me. He started kissing my neck, working his way up to my cheek, then my forehead, my nose, and finally my lips. We shared a loving kiss until Danny pulled away.
