Right after the gods swore on the River Styx to claim their children, they made a blood pact, or in this case an ichor pact. (Instead of being turned immortal Percy made the gods swear on the River Styx to claim all their children before the age of 13.) They (the 12 main gods and goddesses) each pricked their finger and each added their drop (or drops) of ichor to a bowl to remind them to claim all their kids before the age of 13. But about 50 years later the bowl of ichor got knocked over and spilled, and it started raining golden ichor on Earth... And this is how the story all started...
