Love Is Blind
Chapter 2
*Stephanie's POV*
"Oh, then I guess you won't have to invite him over," I tell Marcel, as I finished packing all of my clothes into my drawers.
Marcel then giggled a little, and I found him just staring at me. It was one of those stares that kind of let you know that a guy likes you, or he's interested and what's to hang out sometime. As much as my feelings had already grew for Marcel, I didn't know if he'd be my type to date. Maybe just staying friends for now would be best.
Suddenly, a loud voice through a speaker in the corner of our room started to speak.
"Campers! We need each person to change into their team colors. The uniforms we set out our on the desks. These are the people you will be working with for the two weeks!" The annoyed, lady voice told everyone, and I guessed that there was a speaker in each person's cabin.
I turned back to Marcel, and saw that his shirt was off. He was turned to me, and he didn't have abs, but he did have a nice flat stomach.
He looked up at me through the glasses and jumped. He picked up his sweater from the floor and covered himself best he could.
"I'm sorry, you probably didn't want to see my shirtless," Marcel said.
"Your fine Marcel. I think we'll have to get our bathing suits on for some of the things, so you'll be shirtless anyways," I told Marcel.
"No I won't be, I brought an old t shirt for those activities," Marcel said happily.
"Why wear a t shirt when you don't have to?" I asked. I've never met a boy that wanted to swim with his shirt on. All guys mostly want to swim with their shirts off in the water, or basically anywhere.
Marcel's smile faded, and he looked up at me with his beautiful green orbs.
"I don't have a body like the rest of the guys my age," Marcel admitted quietly.
I looked at him, sitting at the edge on the bed now, allowing me see his body.
"Marcel, I think your body is perfect. Don't listen to what others say," I told Marcel.
He looked up and smiled, and I handed him his camp shirt that was on his desk.
"Your green, I'm red," I told Marcel sadly.
"No, you have to be on my team. Nobody will like me," Marcel said, and frowned.
"Marcel, people will like you. Your so sweet," I told him as I sat beside him.
"You just don't get it," Marcel said, looking down at the wooden floor.
I didn't know what to say to him, I was always the worst at giving advice. Marcel was a guy too, it's different for guys.
"Here, get dressed out here. I'll be in the bathroom," I say as I left him sitting there and headed to the bathroom.
In the mirror I looked at my ugly body. I was definitely not what a skinny, pretty girl liked like. I didn't have a thigh gap, and I hated my thighs. Everyone told me I was skinny, since I was 5'6 and weighed 125, but I never believed them.
My thoughts vanished when I heard Marcel ask, "Almost ready Stephanie?"
"Yeah one second," I replied, and hurried up to put my ugly red camp shirt on, and the short black Nike shorts.
I bent down to tie my Nike sneakers too, and opened the door the see Marcel. His legs were scrawny, and he was skinny and small, even though taller than me. He was decent looking, not someone you would want to bully.
"Stephanie, I don't know if I can do this without you with me," Marcel told me quietly. He sounded nervous and sad that we couldn't be on the same team.
"Marcel, you'll be fine okay? If anyone tries to pick on you, come and find me," I say. I then walked up to him and took his hand into mine. He quickly lifted his head and looked at me as I spoke gently, "I won't let anything happen to you."
Marcel smiled a little, and I took his hand as I dragged him outside the door.
There were so many people, lined up wether waiting for kayaks, track, basketball, tennis, football, swimming, free time, or anything you could really think of.
"Okay Marcel, it looks like your team is football first, and mine is baseball," I said, as we both looked around the camp, in amazement on how big it was.
"We're not very close," Marcel said sadly.
"Hey, the only thing separating us is the blue team, that's all," I told him, smiling up at him.
"I guess," Marcel shrugged.
"Meet me right when it ends," I say to Marcel, as we both started walking and took our separate paths.
