Chapter 3

Moving day came. Some of her new friends helped her move her things from over the café to the house. Sarah realized she didn't have much when it came to furniture. In a way it made her excited about decorating the house to make it hers and the twins'.

Even as little as she had it took all day to move. She furnished lunch at the café for all the helpers.

Things were stored away for the evening. The twins were in their rooms exploring. Sarah was sitting in her living room on the one love seat she owned, drinking a cup of herb tea her aunt Kelly had sent her. "It's amazing how owning your own place makes you feel." She said to the house. Her mind drifted to the mirror and the image in it. "I promise to take care of your house. I love it." She took a sip of her tea then took out her phone. "Hi sorry it's so late."

"Hi its ok things are calming down around here. How are you and my angles doing?"

"We're fine we just moved into our new house I just bought."

"What? That's great honey. Send me some pictures so I can see what it looks like."

"I will, it's an old house actually one of the oldest houses in town. One of the founders of the town built it."

"What kind of shape is it in?"

"Real good shape. It needs a few up grades like most old houses. The stuff in the attic is what I called you for."

"What kind of stuff?"

"Well there's this old mirror."

"And"

"There's an image in it that's not mine."

"Really who is it then?"

"I'm thinking the first owner of this house it's been in his family until now. I picked it up for the taxes."

"Do you some home work. Surely they got some pictures."

"I thought I would go through the attic first. They left some old chest and crates up there."

"Sounds like a lot of work. How's the café doing?"

"It's good; people are adjusting to new owners and the changes."

"That's good and the twins?"

"They miss their dad and the way he played with them."

"You miss him too."

"Yes I do. I don't want to be independent any more mom."

Her mom chuckled "It's not as great as you always thought huh?"

"Well in some ways yes it is and in others no."

"How about I come get the twins for a couple of weeks they'll enjoy seeing their aunt and cousins again?"

"That would be good give me time to get things settled here in the house."

"I'll call you in the morning to arrange thing when I'm at my desk."

"Where are you at now?"

"I'm cuddled up next to Tony who is not waiting patiently."

"OH I'm sorry to interrupt just one more thing."

"What "she heard Tony say in the back ground.

"OOH" Sarah hung up the phone before they could respond. She was more relaxed about the house and the occupant. "I can live with you just don't hurt my kids."

Two days after Sarah talked to Laura (her mom). The kids were packed up and headed to Texas to spend a few weeks with Nana.

Sarah hadn't ventured backup to the attic since that first day. She slowly opened the door and looked up. She turned the light switch that illuminated the stairs. Sarah took a deep breath and climbed the stairs. She could feel the presents as she walked up the steps. When she reached the top she found the chain hanging to turn on the single light for the attic. It really didn't help much. (Mental note to self put more lighting up here.)
