Chapter eleven

I sat there completely shocked and confused.

"W-what?" I asked, confusion clear in my voice.



She started shaking; not because of being cold, but with fear.

"Rosie, what's wrong?" I asked totally worried now.



I grabbed her and brought her into a tight hug but she didn't move.

It's like she was frozen.



"Rosie, you need to say something." I said.

Nothing.


What was I supposed to do now?



She started to whimper and that scared me. "Shh, baby girl, it's okay." I said as I rocked her back and forth.



Tears silently fell down her face as she stopped whimpering.

"Dani, come here!" I said as I didn't know what to say or do to Rosie at this point.

Dani came running through the door and rushed over to the bed.

"Rosie, what's wrong, sweetheart? Liam, did you say something!" Dani yelled quietly at the end.

"No, I didn't say anything, I came in to say sorry and all of a sudden she whispered 'mommy.' I don't know what to do!" I said.

"Rosie, you need to talk to us." Dani said.



Dani and I looked at each other clueless in what to do but then she started crying.


"Rosie, what's wrong, sweetie? You need to tell us." I asked concerned.

"Mommy!" Was what she yelled.


"Mommy?" Dani asked worriedly.

She was now sobbing at this point and Dani was rocking her and I went to call the adoption center to see if I could at least find out if Katie knows something about Rosie's mum.







"Hello, this is Katie, how can I help you?" Katie's familiar voice said.

"Yes, this is Liam Payne. We have a concern about Rosie and we don't know what to do, she got yelled at for the first time tonight, and I went to say sorry and she looked frightened and whispered: 'mommy.' Why do you think she said that? She's basically sobbing in her room right now." I said all in one breath.



"Well, it could be that something reminded her of her mother, and it may have scared her? I'm not sure what to do about that." She said.

"Right! Why didn't I think of that! Thank you, Katie," I said before I hung up and ran back to Rosie's room.







"Rosie," I said as I sat back down on her bed.

"Did I say something that made you remember you mommy?" I asked softly.

She sobbed and tried to say something but I couldn't hear what she said.

It sounded like she said 'yeah' but I wasn't sure.


"Yeah?" I asked. "Yeah" she sobbed.

"I'm sorry, honey. I didn't mean to make you upset." I said to her as I rubbed her arm in a soothing way.



"Can you please stop crying, sweetie? We wanna see that beautiful little smiley face of yours." I said hopeful that she'd stop.


She soon calmed down, but had tears all over her face.

Dani wiped them away and smiled at her.

She did a small giggle and smiled back up at Dani.

I smiled knowing my little girl was back.

"I'm sorry, sweetie." I said as I put a strand piece of hair behind her ear.

She didn't say anything but soon closed her eyes. Dani laid her back in her bed and covered her up. We kissed her forehead and walked back to our room.
