The house was quiet again when I stepped inside. I had called Remi and she followed me in. The blue heeler was called by Grandpa while me and Remi went upstairs to our room. She immediately started sniffing around and trying to find out where all of her stuff was. Remi did a quiet bark and trotted over to the closet and started to gnaw on the antler. I walked over to my radio and turned it on. My phone was dead so I plugged that in and hooked it up to the radio. Pandora was on already from not shutting down right earlier, so it just started playing. I freaked out from all of the music, and turned off my phone quickly, just letting the radio play on it's own.
I flopped onto my bed and felt gravity intensify by a million times what it normally is. A small groan escaped my mouth and a slowly got back up and walked to my door. The knob turned in my hand and when I opened it, there was a girl standing in my doorway. Her black hair went to her waist and sharp eyeliner curved around her deep brown eyes and into a cat eye. Her face was slightly twisted, as if holding back anger. I leaned on my door and gave her a sarcastic smile.
"Can I help you?" The words slipped out of my mouth just screaming annoyance at her, hoping that she would get the concept that I knew she was pissed at me for some reason.
"Yeah, you actually can. Pick up all of your things and go back to the hell hole you came from. We don't want city trash on the ranch." He tongue was sharper than her glare, and I immediately looked back into my room at Remi who was also listening. I turned back to her as calm as possible.
"Why would I do that when this is my Grandparents farm?" She went silent for a moment, as if she didn't know I was related to them. Then she spoke up.
"Then at least leave everyone alone here. You can run around with your mutt and that purple haired freak, but leave me and my boyfriend alone." I heard Remi growl behind me and turned to see her standing next to me and had a look in her eye for mischief. The girl's slitted eyes grew wider and she glared at Remi. I nodded to Remi when she looked at me and she glared back at the girl.
"Okay, first off, Luke isn't your boyfriend as far as I know. An-" She cut me off quickly.
"How would you know we broke up?" She got closer to me and up in my face.
"I heard you two arguing when I first got here and you just told me that you two did. You just verified it, chica."
"I have a name you know. So don't give me any crappy nicknames th-"
"Then what is your name, asshole? Because I really just want to go downstairs and make a sandwich and you are in my damn way. So please, tell me your name so I can hate it for the rest of my life and so I can leave you alone. I just wanted a sandwich." I stood up straighter, getting ready to go downstairs, hoping that this conversation is over.
"My name is Emily.." Her voice was hushed, but the look of hatred was still in her eyes. She turned around and walked down the steps. Me and Remi followed her after shutting my door. She slammed the sliding door behind her and Remi ran to the window, growling under her breath. I walked into the kitchen and looked around for peanut butter in the huge pantry.
"Great, all I did was talk to a guy and some chick hates me now." I said aloud because no one else was around. Remi ran into the living room and lied down on the couch while I made a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. The peanut butter was really thin and easy to spread. I looked at the jar and it was labeled with a sticky note. Cool, my grandparents made peanut butter. That was something to brag about.
I put everything away and washed the butter knife I used before calling Remi and going outside. I shut the door and Grandpa was there with his dog sitting patiently next to him as he talked to Grandma. Remi barked and ran over to Grandpa's dog, but the heeler didn't stand up, he just looked at her. My feet carried me over to them and I leaned on the fence Grandpa was leaning on. I took a huge bite of my sandwich and looked over at them. Apparently I cut in at the wrong time.
