"R-Remi," I looked down at the border collie, her tail was going ten times faster than normal. She stood up and nosed the door open to my room and darted inside. I opened the door, before it shut automatically, and let myself in as well. She wagged her tail more and walked over to the closet and high stepped over something. I tilted my head as I walked over to her, and she curled around a wriggling mass of fur.
My hand flew up to my mouth as I bent down and gently picked one up. I looked the puppy over and looked back down at Remington. A small squeak escaped the puppy's mouth and I set her back down, then she immediately wiggled back to her mother's side. There were five puppies in total, and they all resembled Remi and Ryker at the same time. An idea wiggled through my head and I jumped up and dashed over to my dresser.
My fingers grasped the handle and ripped the drawer open, clothes and random things flying out of it. I growled under my breath as I dug through it trying to find my string. I heard a crinkle come from the drawer and I pulled my hand up, revealing a Ziploc bag with colorful string inside of it. As I walked back to the closet, I remembered that I needed something to cut it with and quickly snatched my knife from the same drawer.
I slid to a sit right next to the closet because I was so excited to have five new dogs. I quickly picked up a random puppy gently, and did my best to get the genders right. I counted up three girls and two boys. I said this to myself more than five times to try and get it into my head before cutting colored string. I also named the puppies as I made the collars, which color depended on the name and their coat colors.
The first puppy was a border collie pattern with black and blue flecks all down her body. Her ears had a cute flop to them that I had a feeling wouldn't go away when she grew older. I named her September, and her collar was fall colors, like orange, yellow, and red. The second puppy was the youngest one. I thought he was a runt too, because of how small and slow he was compared to the others. I named him October, because he relied on September so much. His collar was orange with a black stripe through it, symbolizing Halloween. The third pup was a girl I named Marie after my middle name. Her collar was bright green, and nothing but that. I set her down after adjusting the collar and watched how happy my dog was.
I patted her head before picking up the second to last puppy. The last girl of the litter. I named her Rev, because I started thinking of names that started with 'R'. Her collar was bright blue with a white stripe running through it. I set her back down and picked the last puppy up. He wiggled and yelped for help. I smiled and set him down in my lap so he could chill out. I named him Romulus, just because it was another 'R' name. I made him a black collar with a purple stripe running through it. After all the puppies were back with Remi, I set everything on top of my dresser and flopped onto my bed.
Remi stayed in the closet with her pups that night, while I snored and enjoyed the extra room on the bed. The morning came too soon, and my alarm switched on. I jumped up from my bed and looked around, spotting my reflection in the mirror. Because my hair was so wild and sporadic, my mind told me that it was something other than I was which made me freak out. I moved my blankets off myself and shut the alarm off before walking to the dogs and feeding Remi. She was contently still asleep while all five puppies were curled up around her, small and cute snores escaping my closet.
I shook myself and walked back over to my dresser and pulled the drawers open. My eyes darted back and forth, looking for something decent to wear. I picked up a pair of skinny yet loose jeans and a tank-top with a fox on the front. I also grabbed my phone and hairbrush before I walked out of my room and around the corner to the bathroom.
Nobody else was inside, and I could hear the mooing of cows and the loud whinnies of horses outside. A small smile crept across my face as I walked into the bathroom and switched on Pandora. I set all of my clothes down onto the large marble countertop before turning on the shower. Once I pulled back the shower curtain, I was surprised to see that there was a window in the shower overlooking the whole ranch. It was beautiful and it made me have a happy feeling knowing that I had free range on all of it. I started the water and fixed it to where it was at the point where the temperature was perfect before jumping in and taking a shower.
