Chapter 7 -

We power on and on, through the waves. Searching an searching, however there is nothing to be seen besides water, rock islands and dolphins. We have been searching now for about 4hours, going on 5.

"Hey Michael."
"Yeah?" He asks.
"Remember seeing that rescue team pull away from the jetty?" I'm curious.
"Yeah?" He asks again.
"Can you at all remember if they said who they were looking for?"
"I told you before we left Summer, they didn't. The cops did ask me a couple questions about that guys you said your Dad had a fight with, but I think the rescue team went out looking for him, not your father. I'm sorry Summer."

My head drops to the Floor, pain overwhelming my body. what if Dad really was murdered by his arch enemy? how would I explain that to Lucy?Lucy! i totally forget I left her at home alone. she would be so scared alone, in a dark house.

"Michael can we please Go back home? Lucy will be so frightened. I just need to check she is ok. oh, and I better re-fuel your boat." I plead.
"Don't worry summer, we will head back now, you and Quin check your sister, while I re-fuel the boat." he explains.
"but i need to pay for the fuel, we are out here looking for my Dad." i insist.
"summer, I'm sure I can spare a couple of extra dollars to keep your sister safe." Michael was being understanding and really considerate. For some reason his words comforted me. Made me feel somewhat, less alone.

I look him in the eyes, his gorgeous brown eyes. I see a glimmer of hope and say,
"Thank-you for everything Michael... Really. I couldn't have done this without you. And same goes for you Quin." I sincerely thank them before Michael spins the medium sizes power boat around and puts full throttle on, heading back towards the jetty.

*******

The boat pulls up on the jetty. Quin and i both help Michael to put the boat onto the trailer on the boat ramp before we jump in the car, and Michael gives us a ride 2 streets from the jetty to my house. He pulls into the long dirt drive-way and continues to speed down the 300m stretch. He pulls up in front of the front door... The opened front door.

Michael turns the car and boat around and then speed out the driveway, headlights shimmering on the water.

Why would the front door be opened?!? I sprint straight through the front door, frightened at what I might see. Quin yells from the kitchen, "Lucy! Are you here sweaty." No reply. Considering it is now late in the night I assume she is asleep. I hurry my legs as fast as they will go to her bedroom to find the bed is all scruffled up, but no Lucy.

My heart pounds in my chest. Where the hell could she be?!? I told her to stay home, she wouldn't disobey me at a time like this, would she?

*******

My mind races thinking of anywhere she could possibly be.
"What about down on the beach?" Quin suggests. It is the most logical answer I can think of, well it's not even logical but it is a possibility. We'll just run, it's not far to the closest section of the beach.

Quin begins to run out the door and down the driveway. I grab the keys from the basket just inside the door and lock it before chasing after her towards the beach.

I catch up too her, considering I was always a better runner then her in school. We run down the fenced off sanding path leading onto the beach. Sure enough Quin was right. There was a limp body lying on a towel, looking up into the stars.

I sprint as fast as my legs will take me too her, as she is unaware of my presence.

"Lucy!!" I shout. Her body immediately sits up and turns to face me as I continue to run towards her.
"Lucy what the hell are you thinking?! I told to stay inside the house!" I shout before falling to my knee's into the soft sand and embracing her in a tight hug. At-least now I know she is safe.
