"you think you're too cool for an umbrella, huh?"
"yeah. apparently you do too?"
"nah, i just forgot mine."that was the first time i ever heard your laugh. instead of tipping your head back, you looked down slightly, the drops from your hair catching on your eyelashes. you were shorter than me back then. like 5'2" while i was 5'4". it was cute, if i'm completely honest. the rain was flooding the sky, the sidewalks, the world around us, and the only thing i could see clearly was you. the droplets drummed their endless rhythm on the ground, but i could still make out one other sound. you were humming.
as i caught the melody, i think i fell for you. i had no idea there'd be no one to catch me.
how ironic is it that the first line of the song was "hear the sound of the pouring rain?""that's green day."
"i know."
"i love that song."
"me too."
