John checked himself out in the mirror.

He sported a black and white Naruto t-shirt, finished with a black and blue flame. He gripped his fedora, tipped it, then swiped it to the left- sweeping his red hair along with it. He looked closer to the mirror to check out his face, splashing it with water and popping some small pimples to get a more clean look. He combed the fuzz on his neck, pulled up his pants, then clicked his fingers, an action that he did many times in the past. You see, John wasn't the savior that people foretold him to be. In fact, he was what you would call a weeb, a loser, and a degenerate. If you asked any person on the street what their thoughts on John were, they'd laugh a pathetic laugh, then start passionately ranting about his terrible life.

"Looking hot, kid" He muttered to himself, as he blew a kiss into the mirror.

John walked out the front door, locked it, then swaggered through the neighborhood, swinging his uneven shoulders from side to side. He looked at a girl from across the street, winked, then clicked his fingers. The girl casually put on a grotesque face, gave him the bird, then went back to texting on her phone.

"She digs me," John thought, his ego overriding common sense.

John approached the bus stop, where he was greeted by half-smiling, half-disgusted look. He ignored them, dusted off his Naruto shirt, then proceeded to wait for the bus in a cool boy stance; one knee above, slightly bent, and another knee back,  offering support. He eventually got to school 20 minutes early, so he decided to go to the washroom to spice up his look.

It was June 21rst, the day of the Summer Swing.

The Summer Swing was the obligatory dance that Tuck Frump high hosted each summer, right after the exams. They usually hired a young-20-something-year-old DJ that seemed really professional, so the school could save money and prevent the DJ's attempted suicide. The dance was always held in the south gym, partially because of budget restrictions but also because it didn't have any water fountains, so they could amp up the prices of beverages. There usually were not any decorations in the gym, except for a time where a kid died in a car crash, so they painted the stage blood red and played "The Sounds of Silence," for the slow dance. But no matter how unproffesional the dance was, the kids always loved them. The atmosphere before the dance was unbelievable. People were asking about dates left and right, they were learning how to dance, and they gossiped about who was going out with who nearly every second of every day.

But John was different. He didn't partake in any of the hype, and usually just sat in the corner, playing his 3ds. That was until the day he met Shunaenae. It was just an ordinary day in Mr.Geronimo's science class. No one was paying attention as usual, and John was sitting at the back of the class, having a furious debate about the physics of Sonic's speed on 4chan. Noticing John's rage-induced tears, Mr. Geronimo naturally asked him what was wrong. John went on a rant about Sonic, detailing the logistics and critical thinking errors that his opponent was typing. A loud snort had burst out from the front seat, and John went over to see who dared make fun of him.

He made eye contact with the most beautiful girl in the universe.

John was speechless. It was almost as if he was looking into a chasm of colours, surrounding his entire world and infinite worlds around him. He suddenly had visions, flashes of a life where he would marry this girl, have kids, then settle down in the country, opening up a shop where he would look into his wife's eyes forever.

John managed to grasp at some words through his hollow breath.

"And who might you be...?" Asked John in a low, bad-boy voice.

"...Fuck off, weeb."

John went back to 4chan, read his argument, then wondered what he was doing with his life.
