It was an early June morning and my mother, father, brother, and I were in a debate. I voted yes for getting a dog. Everyone else, was a no. "Come on mom. Can I please have a best friend who doesn't live outside the house." I pleaded. "If you can prove to me by the end of the week that you're responsible enough." She compromised. "What. H- how. There's no dog here. What do you want me to do, go around asking people 'can I take care of your dog". I argued while very puzzled. "No. What I want is for you to try and pet sit Ms. Wang's dog." She ordered.

The next day I went over to Mrs. Wang's house. She gave me a list of things to do for the dog. She kept rambling on about how precious her dog was to her. "So can I trust you that you will take good care of her." She questioned. A little unsure of me. "I promise" I vowed. "Great, call me if there are any problems. Oh and the vet's number is on the frigde just incase." She said. Then left for her trip to rebuild a building. She said it would take a few years or so. "So Chip is your name." I said reading her name tag. Chip was a German Shepherd who had a few black dots on her sides. She looked like a cookie. I guess that's why she is called Chip.

It was nearly 5:23 and the list read to feed her at 5:30. Close enough, I thought. When she was done with her meal I took her for a walk. She was very obedient. She never tugged on the leash or tried to chase a squirrel nor dog. Later that night Chip sat with me on the couch. We watched 2 full marathons of Dog Wisperer and The Incredible Doctor Pol. My dream job has always been to be a Veterinarian.

Rinnng!. "Hello?" "Hi Maya. How are you doing.?" My mother asked. "Fine. And you?" I responded. "Fine." "What's Daddy and Darren doing?" I wondered. "They're just playing a video game. Well it's getting late, (yawns) I'm off to bed. Goodnight darling." She then ended the call. (Yawns) Come on Chip; time for bed. I placed the German Shepherd in her big pink bed. I slept in Mrs. Wang's bed. She said she was okay with it. In the middle of the night; I heard a strange whining sound. I brushed it off and fell back asleep. About 5 minutes later, I heard it again. "Alright; that's it. This is now just intolerable. " I said; sounding really annoyed. I followed the noise into the bathroom. There I found Chip lying on the floor. "Oh My God. Chip. W-what happened. Shoot; uhh uhh w-w-what do I do." Then I remembered that Mrs. Wang left the vet's number on the fridge. I dialed the number.

"Hello, this is Pet Vet. Jordan speaking." She greeted. "Yes, hi. Umm, I just found my dog lying on the bathroom floor, and like; crying? Can you please find out what's wrong?" I asked anxiously. "Sure. Bring him over and we'll have a look." She reassured. It was a struggle getting Chip into the car. But I managed to achieve that. I drove over to the pet hospital as fast as I could. When I got there it looked more crowded than what I thought. "Hi. Are you the patient who just called?" Asked Jordan. "Yes. I'm in a huge dilemma right now; can I speak to the or one of the vet's.?" I asked nervously. "Sure. I'll get Dr. Richard here as soon as possible. " She said.

We walked into the vet's office and he took a look at Chip. "How long has she been whining? " He questioned. "I don't know when she started because I was asleep. But when I awoke, I started hearing painful cries." "Well, nothing wrong. Although... yeah; she's pregnant." Was his diagnosis. I was speechless. I just stared in complete shock. "What you can do is just let her rest for a couple days or weeks. And let us know if she stopped whining, or if it gets worse; okay." He suggested.
