I belong to you

'It's good to be back.' I sigh, squeezing Matt's hand as we walk past the fountain in the town.

'It's good to have you back.' Matt replies, bending down and kissing my cheek. 'I missed you so much.'

'I missed you too.' I say, stopping and turning to him. 'I love you'

'I love you too.' He says, and we kiss. His hair is back to it's natural shade of brown now. He's lucky, he can suit virtually any hair colour, but his natural hair has always been my favourite. We sit down on the side of the fountain and I let go of Matt's hand so I can re-tie my shoe. Suddenly I begin to lose my balance and - SPLASH. Matt looks at me and bursts out laughing.

'Hey! You can't laugh!' I whine, standing up and wiping my hair out of my eyes.

'Why can't I? You are the one in the fountain!' He giggles.

'So are you.' I shout, and he looks confused.

'No I'm--' And with that I pull him into the water. 'This is freezing!!' He screeches and I laugh.

'I know!' I chuckle, splashing him with water as grabs me by the waist.

'You,' He begins, 'Are far too cheeky for your own good.'

'Oh am I?' I say flirtatiously. 'And what do you plan to do about it?

He raises his eyebrows. 'Just you wait.' He kisses me and I run my fingers through his short wet hair. We climb out of the fountain and run down the road hand in hand until we reach our flat where we, you know...

'Babe we need to talk.' Matt says, sitting down with his tea and handing me a cup coffee.

'Shoot.' I reply, slightly nervous about what he is going to say. I hope he doesn't have to go away again; he was away so much before I left for uni.

'Well, we recently got the contract with that guy from America as you know. And, well, we're gonna have to go back over there for about 3 months. I asked, and we're not allowed to have anyone stay with us as they don't have enough money to fund more than 4 of us. I'm so sorry babe I really am but you can visit for like a week and I'm sure I'll be able to fly back at least once.' He rambles on, trying to make me feel better about it.

'I just got back! And I swear you literally just went to America to see that bloody guy!' I whine, getting annoyed.

'I know Ash and I'm sorry but it has to be done for the band. It's not my fault!' He says in his defence. I stand up and put my coffee down on the table.

'It's just like I always come second to your job. You go away so often and I know I've been off at uni but it was before then. We're meant to be engaged but we never bloody see each other anymore. I feel like you belong to your job.' I half shout, picking up my suitcase and stuffing some things into it from my drawer.

'No I don't! It's only for the first few months, and then when we are better known you will be able to come with us everywhere.' Matt says, raising his voice - but not angry. 'Please, Ash, you can't leave me. Is this it? Are we done?!'

'I'm going to go and stay somewhere else for a few days, I need to think this through.' I cry, wiping away the tears with my hand.

'Ashlea! No! Please don't leave me!' Matt begs, on his knees, tears spilling from his eyes. 'I love you.'

'I love you too, but I can't handle this. I'll talk soon.' I tearily reply, closing the door behind me.

'Hey Kelly,' I mumble into the receiver. 'Is there any chance I could come and stay with you? Just for two nights? I'll cook and stuff.'

'Of course you can honey! I'll sort out the spare bedroom for you! Has something happened with you and Matt?' She says, sounding aghast.

'I'll explain later.' I mutter, and I drive round to Kelly and Chris' after saying goodbye on the phone.

I sit down and explain the situation to Kelly, who nods understandingly.

'I just had the exact same talk with Chris, but luckily Mum wanted me to go and stay with her for a while soon, so I can schedule them for the same time.' She chirps, giving me a warm, flowery hug.

'I would do that but, you know my mother.' I reply, sniffling.

'Oh boy you really love him don't you? She whispers, still holding me tightly.

'I do, I really do. Why? Has he been cheating? Oh my God no!' I say, starting to get hysterical.

'God no! He loves you to pieces! When you're not there all he does is talk about you.' She explains, trying to calm me down.

'Really? Okay, thanks.' I pick up my ringing phone, I glance at the caller I.D and decline the call, realising it is Matt.

*3 days later*

I can't just leave him, I love him so much. But I can't handle all of this going away. I'll leave it until he comes back from America. He went yesterday along with Dom, Chris and Tom. I can't be away from him for 3 months. It'll kill me. I decide to go to the café to take my mind off of him. Walking past the fountain I can't help but remember the day before I left. That's it, I can't do it. I need him. I'll wait months at a time if it means I can be with him.

Before I can even think about what I'm doing, I am at the airport, buying a ticket off of the nice lady at the till.

'Thankyou very much.' I hurriedly say, running to catch the plane.

The 9 hour plane journey is excruciating. I cannot sleep, there's too many voices in my head. I look down at the piece of paper in my hand, with the address written down on it. I gingerly remove the crushed up smarties from around my seat as a little kid throws them around everywhere. I just wish I could get to sleep. All I bloody want to do is--.

I wake up about 4 hours later and I am awoken to the announcement that we have arrived. I get off of the plane and pick up my hand luggage, hailing for a taxi as I leave the airport.

About 20 minutes later and I am trembling as I knock on the studio door.

'Come in.' I hear a familiar voice say. I run over to Matt, practically knocking him off of his chair.

'Oh my God! You're here!' He shouts excitedly, kissing me as I fall into his arms.

'I love you so much.' I whimper, hugging him tightly. 'I didn't mean anything I said before, I was just annoyed because I didn't want you to leave.'

'I know I know. So I assume that means that you aren't going to leave me?'

'Matthew James Bellamy, I just came on a 9 hour plane journey to see you, and you really think I am going to leave you?'

'Well I couldn't be sure.' He replies, kissing me softly.

'Matt, I've travelled half the world to say, I belong to you.' I whisper, and Dom walks in through the door.

'Ahh, the happy couple's back then I assume.' he says, smiling.

'Yeah, and for good.' I reply, sitting down on Matt's lap. Matt smiles in agreement and kisses me on the cheek.
