Chapter 127

(Seijo Yukari)

We are now on the train, making our way towards the seventeenth ward. We planned on living in a rural area where there aren't a lot of people since we are currently hiding from both the CCG and the Aogiri.

It was a good thing that he and I both stocked up a lot of money to be able to buy a small apartment to live in and to be able to provide our basic needs as we were planning on living there for as long as we like to.

The small apartment we bought was nice because it was near the sea and it has a breath-taking scene every sunset and sun rise. It was like a rest house in the beach. Although eloping like this would really get us in trouble, it feels nice having to live with the person you love the most.

"Yukari, I already contacted the landlord. He said that the house was already arranged." Haise said.

"That's great." I exclaimed, smiling. "Still, I want to thank you for coming with me.."

"You're always welcome, Yukari. Wherever you go, I'll follow you." He said as he placed a small kiss on my cheek. "It's crazy though. I will have to submit a fake document and change my age since we can't buy a house underaged."

"Don't worry, I know the landlord very well. He hired me once to kill a second rank Ghoul investigator he hates. I'll threaten to expose his secret if he doesn't sell the house to us." I giggled a bit.

"Haha, you sure are scary, aren't you?" Haise chuckled softly. "But, your idea is not bad at all."

"I know right? Well, I'm excited to see our new house, though."

I sat on my bed, staring at the window feeling a bit blue. In the end, onee-chan never showed up.. There was no news from her at all and just disappeared like that. But one thing sure has changed, Ayato seemed really down and he's always fuming around.

He's frequently not home and is always comes home late. Whenever he comes home, his clothes are always drenched with blood. He's probably out there, hunting or just causing some trouble.. He seemed to have been colder than anyone in this HQ. He's not usually like this at all..

I haven't talked to him so, I have no clue of what happened.. It all started when Onee-chan left Aogiri..

Letting my curiosity pick my interest, I decided to come to his room and find out what really happen to him. I stood in front of the door, unsure if I should enter or not.

Just as I was about to knock, I heard a faint sound of sobbing. This surprised me because I instantly knew that it was Ayato who's crying. I opened the door, pushing it forward to enter.

He was startled at my sudden entrance and quickly wiped his tears with his arm and used his fringe to cover his face.

"Why are you here? I didn't ask you to come." He coldly said, trying to push me away.

"You were crying." I said as I gazed at him with empathic eyes.

"Don't be ridiculous. I wasn't." He responded, looking at me with sharp eyes.

"For crying out loud, why are you still hiding when it's obvious?" I snapped at him.

"You know what, you're annoying." He snarled whilst clenching his teeth. "I'm outta here."

He stood up and stomped away, passing by me but, I grabbed his arm to stop him.

"It's onee-chan.. Right?" I said. I looked at him with his back facing me. "Something definitely happened with her, right?

He jerked my hand away from his arm and looked at me through the corner of his eyes.

"Leave me alone." He hissed as he went on his way to leave me alone in his room.

I decided to let him cool off his head and deal with his rotten personality right now so, I wandered through the halls with nothing to do. On the way, I saw Eto humming happily.

"Oh, Hinami-chan!" She exclaimed cheerfully as she walked towards me.

"Hello." I nodded my head to greet her.

"Is it true that Yukari quitted Aogiri?" She asked like she was clueless. "Tatara-san was so angry about it."

I couldn't help but feel down, remembering that onee-chan will never come back with in Aogiri anymore..

"Apparently.. It is true." I replied as I couldn't hide the depressed tone in my voice.

"Awwww~ Too bad, I really really liked her. That girl is sweet in many ways." She exclaimed. "But, now that it has come to this, I guess we have no choice but to eliminate her if she gets in the way."

"Would you really do that?" I inquired, slightly annoyed by her statement. "Doesn't she mean anything to you?"

"Hmmm~ Not really. I just thought she's a great girl in both fighting and entertaining me. Her life doesn't really matter to me." She replied, giggling. "As long as we reach our goal, I would use as many pawns as I have to."

"Treating her like some object, who do you think you are!!--"

"You wouldn't want to fight against me, do you?" She giggled in excitement as she leaned against me. "I don't wanna stain my bandages with blood today so, don't make me kill you, alright?"

"Bye, Hinami-chan. It was a nice talk~" she hummed as she hopped cheerfully like kid in the hallways.

I gave her a glare to express my anger. I wished my glare would stab her at her back.. She's a selfish and childish woman. How annoying..

Deciding to cool my head off, I went to the balcony of the headquarters and let the wind blow against my skin. As my hair flows away from my face, I heard another whimpering.

It was the same as earlier..

Could Ayato be here somewhere..?

Looking around, I found a pair of shoes on top of a platform that was elevated at the balcony. I immediately concluded that it ws Ayato.

I quickly ran against it and used strength on my legs to jump up and reach the platform.

"So, you're here." I exclaimed, standing in front of him.

He was lying down on the ground, his arms covering his eyes whilst his tears splashing against the ground. It was so unlike him since I rarely see him cry. Why is he crying when he knows that onee-chan is alive?

He only cries when he really is hurt.. What did onee-chan do to hurt him this bad?

I stood beside him, looking down at him from my height.

"Crying alone won't make you feel any better." I exclaimed.

"Go away. I don't need you here." He coldly said as he sobbed.

Due to my stubbornness, I lay down on the ground, just beside him and stared at the blue sky just above us.

"What happened with onee-chan?" I asked, showing my concern for him. "If you keep it all to yourself, eventually it will accumulate and will slowly kill you inside."

"Why don't you just shut up..?"

"Don't you trust me? Do you think I'm just someone who doesn't care about you..? Don't I mean anything to you so as for you to keep such a burden all to yourself..?" I asked him, especially hurt since I think that he doesn't trust me enough. "What am I to you..?"

He slowly removed his arm from his eyes and made a sigh.

"A very special friend." He replied with a deep tone. "I'm sorry.. I didn't tell you. It's just that, it hurts to think about it even more.."

"What exactly happened?" I turned my head to him.

He gazed at the sky, a tear falling from the corner of his eye. A tear that shows pain and despair and a broken heart..

"She broke up with me.." He stared at the sky with him breaking apart the moment he remembers it.
