All I could hear was my breathing and foot steps as I pushed myself closer and closer to safety. I couldn't hear if it was still chasing me or if I had lost it somewhere but I wasn't gonna take my chances. I was right around the corner from my home, and right as I got to the porch and touching the door knob is when I was awoken from another chase.
Saved by the buzzer, literally, I loved the safe haven my alarm clock brings as I know now that my nightly adventure is over. I got ready for school like I normally do through out the week, but I couldn't help but feel as though it was somehow different. I brushed it off and went down stairs following the delicious smell of bacon and waffles. My as always perky mother greets me good morning as I start scarfing down my breakfast still feeling as though something is abnormal. Although everything seems normal I still don't understand what I feel so on edge about. I get thrown out of my thoughts by the usual knock of my best friend Kristy. Kristy comes every morning to drive us to school. Kristy is the sweetest person I know, she has fiery red hair, big bright green eyes that complements her fair skin perfectly, and her beautiful face is perfectly dusted with freckles.
As soon as we left my house she starts the chit chat. "So what happened this time?" Just like always. I roll my eyes "Same old, same old. It still chases me as I get closer and closer to my answers" I reply. "Gonna tell me what it is your looking for yet?" She asks. "I'll tell you when the times right. Right now lets just deal with getting to school." I reply. I don't really want to tell her what I'm searching for because in all actuality I don't really know. All I know is that whenever I get a correct clue that I need to continue the search. Its kinda like an instinct, it just hits me all of a sudden and it may be something like seeing a mysterious rock on the ground or seeing something that isn't there.
Oh yea my name is Kathleen Frietas I have blond hair and bright blue/purple eyes. I live in Colbert, VT. I live with my beautiful mother, hard working father, little baby brother Jackson, and my kitty Booger. We live in a small town of 245 living people with a beautiful cemetery practically filled, so its pretty normal for the whole town to know you. They just don't know what exactly it is I do. Its even worse when I don't know what I do. All I know is that I'm doing it right and that's what keeps the continuous chase going.
When we got to school and got out of the car, I was hit with an instant wave of nausea and if Kristy's car hadn't been there then I would have been flat on my butt. When I felt sturdy again, we started walking towards the school I noticed a man standing there who looks as though hes been torn right out of an Edgar Allen Poe story. He was standing sideways so I could only see his profile but he had dark brown/black hair and a firm jaw structure. He had on a blood red button up shirt, long old fashioned coat, nice looking black dress pants, and shiny black shoes with a gold buckle on the front.
When Kristy noticed that I wasn't paying attention to what she was trying to tell me about her weekend she shook me and brought me back to earth. "Hey do you see that man just standing there?" I asked. "Who? Michael Turner? Well DUH who hasn't seen him and damn isn't he cute?" She replied. I took that as she didn't see him because this mystery guy was sure enough standing right in front of Michael. I wanted to go closer and talk to him but I knew I would look like a weirdo if I just started talking to what appeared to be nothing but thin air to everyone else, so I brushed it off and decided that it would be best if I just went on with my day and hoped to see him again when I was alone.
School went by with a breeze with nothing happened just like every other week. Just like every day that school holds me I walk to the general store down the street when school is done and wait for Kristy to be done with soccer practice. Today though, as soon as I got in the general store which is a red building with a white trim and a brown door I got the strange on edge feeling again. Everything looked normal so what made today so special, I mean its only Monday. I walked down my favorite aisle which so happens to be the candy aisle. I grabbed a candy bar and started walking to the coolers that were located in the back of the store to get me a cold water. When I walked around the corner I skid to a stop seeing the man from earlier. I saw his face this time and it made my heart drop to my stomach as his piercing eyes looked through my soul.
