I take a deep breath as mother held me in her arms, holding my mouth shut. "Shh baby its okay." I sunk deeper into her arms as she comforted me. My dad had gone to fight, fight for this territory. He told mom to keep a watch on me. The other women and pups were in the same room too. Mother held me close to herself as others held their own pups. They prayed that their mates make it alive.
There was noise all around. I had no idea what was going on.
The door burst open and in came angry wolves. They were bigger than I had imagined. I had come to the conclusion that we were all going to die. I was going to die at thirteen years old. Not have seen the outside of these woods. "I love you baby. Dad loves us too." I could hear her heart breaking. Letting me know that dad was dead. She hid my face into her shoulder.
Suddenly I was ripped from her arms. "No! Mommy! No!" I reached out for her but my line of view of her disappeared. All I know is my ears heard a loud whimper. Coming from my mother.
This moment I knew not of anything going on. All I knew is I lost my mother, my father. They were monsters. "Take all the pups downstairs!" A voice snarled, shaking up the whole mansion. All of us were whimpering, crying for our mom and dad.
"All of you will be working for me now. As long as you can shift you will be cleaning up this whole mess." We looked around at all the dead bodies. A little kid ran to his dad.
"Daddy." He whimpered. "Wake up! Wake up!" He had to be about ten. I held in my cries because soon he was being pulled by his hair by the devil himself and shoved to the floor. You could hear a crack and he had broke some teeth. He cried harder.
"This is what will happen if you cross me."

Three years later..
Ash grinned at me, his chipped teeth in full display. "Benny you're a cheater." He put down his cards and looked at me. "You know how to mix cards to your benefit. Don't ya?" I shook my head smiling.
"You're just being a sore loser!" I answered while taking the bread in the middle of the table. It was cold bread but it was bread. I took it and pulled it in half. Handing it to him. He shook his head.
"You won it fair and square."
"Oh I insist Ash. Be a pal." He smiled, a real smile and takes the bread from my out stretched hand.
"Thanks Benny, you're about the only good thing in this dump."
I stare at him, his dirty face and worn out clothes. They have holes all over, his hair is greasy. It's like looking into a mirror. I imagined so. "As long as we have each other." I replied. He smiled more at me. Looking at me closely.
"You know, when I lost my parents... the only think I ever had.. I thought I had lost everything then that bastard smashed my face into the ground and I lost my smile. But that night you gave me comfort, I thought that maybe.. Maybe I hadn't lost my smile after all. You're a brother to me. Us against the world. At least this one."
We stared at each other until we were ordered to clean the mess after they threw a party. We looked at each other one more time before getting up and go to work. Upstairs. There was a big mess. But we both began cleaning just fine. "I heard Joseph is stepping down and bringing his son to rule this territory."
It doesn't matter whole would be here, they would all treat us like nothing. Like trash.
Ash and I did all the work while the others kept the men.... company. I cringed. I was glad we were put on cleaning duty. Those men were pigs. Literally. I felt bad for those other people but we all had to play a part. Sometimes we attended the men... sometimes we cleaned. I preferred to clean.
I leaned down to pick up a beer bottle when a hand landed on my back side. I jumped startled.
"Hands off him!" Ash defended. "We are on cleaning duty."
The man grunted before strolling away, glaring at us. "Thanks." I mumbled. Throwing the beer bottle into the bag I was holding.
"Don't mention it." We continued to clean up this whole mess until the same man that touched me came back with a fifteen year old girl, throwing her on the ground then grabbed my arm.
"Let go of me!" I yelled. The girl looked thankful at being out, not giving me a look. Ash tried to do something until he was punched in the face by the same man that wanted to take me."It's okay Ash." I mumbled when he tried to rebel again. "I'll see you later." He stared at me as I was being pulled away. I smiled but his eyes filled with tears.
I looked up at the buffoon as he dragged me away. "You're my favorite." He harshly bit my neck as he pushed me onto his bed.

Ash held me tightly that night after he barely cleaned me up. "I'm sor-"
"Don't even. I'm okay." I whispered. "It's not your fault." I closed my eyes, holding back my tears. "I love you Ash. You are the only thing that keeps me going."
"I promise I will get us out of here. Even if it's just you-"
"It's you and me, Ash, or nothing." I felt him smile against my head. We slept tightly against the blanket that bought us a little bit of comfort. We were all forced to sleep in the cold basement. That is what we've known for three years. Nothing but a cold floor or the bed that we would be getting pounded into when we keep the men company.
Ash and I look out for each other. The others do the same, but the difference is they only look out for themselves. That's all.
We would once get out of here and be able to get back the life we deserve.
