Mystic Falls, September 1912
You're hands were attached firmly to your dresser as your maid helped tie your corset. "You have a big day today, Miss (l/n)." She said. You nodded firmly, wincing. "Sorry. You are ready." You nodded and thanked Laura. Slavery was abolished a long time ago but she promised to stay by your side since you were awfully kind.
You reached into your nightstand, hoping she wouldn't notice, pulling out a flask. "Miss! Your mother would have you beheaded if she saw you." Laura scolded. You rolled your eyes. Your mother always made sure you were proper. "(y/n) do this, (y/n) do that. Don't do that, (y/n), It's not proper!" Goodness you were tired of her.
You just turned nineteen and didn't need your mother bossing you around forever. "Oh, mother this, mother that, well I need a bit of change in my life." You said, taking a gulp. "That's why you're meeting the Salvatore brothers, is it not?" She asked, nervously looking at the door. "I doubt they will change my life that much." You said.
But on the contrary, they would. Little did you know that morning would be the last normal morning of your life.Getting out of the carriage was the normal struggle. You had to squeeze the rim of your dress through the doorway as you made your way out of the confined space. Laura helped you down. You bent down to straighten your dress once out and your mother came by and slapped your hand. "(y/n! That is unladylike." She scolded. "Sorry, mother." You quickly apologized.
Looking around the property, you saw a beautiful garden peeking out of the back. "I will go speak with Sir Salvatore. Go and find something to do until your meeting will begin. Do not get in any kinds of miscreant trouble." Your mother said sternly as you entered the house.
You immediately asked a maid of the house if she could lead you to the gardens. She showed you and you and Laura began discussing your excitement of the day while walking among the short shrub maze.
"I've heard they're quite handsome. The youngest is a year older than you. You should go for him. Unless you are into older men." Laura suggested. I shook my head, touching one of the roses. "I don't wish to marry." You sighed. Laura was taken aback and she gasped. You giggled at her response until looking up.
She wasn't staring at you. She was looking off into a different direction, blushing. You quickly followed her gaze. A couple of young men, outside of the shrubs, were outside playing a game of tossing around the pigskin.
One was tall and very brooding. You could tell he had ice eyes and screamed trouble. The other looked tired and kind. His demeanor was soft. "The Salvatore brothers." You heard Laura mutter.
They were awfully handsome. You blushed and giggled under their stare. The taller pointed to his brother and nudged him. "The youngest is staring particularly at you." Laura whispered. "Ooh! Straighten up, they're coming over!" She said excitedly.
You stood up straight and began to make your way to them. The youngest, upon reaching you cleared his throat and spoke first. "Miss (l/n). It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Stefan Salvatore. This is my brother Damon. I apologize for not wearing the proper attire." He said, giving your hand a quick kiss. You shook hands with the other brother. "Pleasure is all mine. Do not worry about your clothes. At least our first meeting wasn't with you unclothed." You giggled, looking at the bright side, earning a chuckle from both boys.
"Ah, this one is funny, brother." Damon laughed and you joined in.His POV
"No, Damon, I do not think this girl will be the one." I sneered. "Oh, but on the contrary brother you tend to fall for anyone who falls within your path." Damon countered, bearing his fangs. Katherine Pierce turned us four years ago. We have been lucky enough to have not been found out.
Damon passed the ball to be and I caught it easily. "I think you are mistaking me for you. I mean you are the reason we are like this." I argued.
"What? No. This was Katherine's fault. God knows she is all kinds of evil." He sighed as I tossed it back. "That was because she has probably been through a lot of heartache, alright?" I countered. "You're sympathizing for a bloodsucker?" Damon asked, astonished. "We are too."
"And? She was probably evil because of her snooty background. Which is probably how this girl will be too. I mean remember how Katherine came into our lives? No sense of humor, and brother, too much manners--" He was going to continue but we both heard footsteps. I whispered to continue as if we weren't talking.
Two ladies walked into the courtyard.
". . . Heard they're quite handsome. The youngest is a year older than you. You should go for him. Unless you are into older guys." One spoke. This made Damon snicker. Him nor I have not turned our heads to look. Mainly because their distance from us. If we noticed them now they would think it weird for us to hear from that far away.
The words uttered by the second girl next is what made me look up. "I do not wish to marry." She said. A girl who was part of a proper family not wanting to marry? That was normal. But for her mother to make her come here? Not.
When I looked up, I almost tripped. She was beautiful. And I mean radiant.
Her giggle was soft like the wind. Her hand maiden looked up and saw me and now Damon, staring.
"You see now, that girl is nothing like Katherine." Damon said, noticing my awe, nudging me on the shoulder. "I hope not." I muttered. I then began to make my way over to introduce myself. "Miss. . ."
