Around you, Malachai Parker was a way different person. He dropped his bad boy attitude and became the biggest sweetheart you had ever known. Of course, you had always thought it was because he was your best friend. And it almost was.
In Mystic Falls, Kai wasn't the most 'popular'. In fact, he had very very little to no friends so when you came along and befriended him, he thought you were crazy. Which eventually lead him to the conclusion you were like him. In a way you were. You two had the same sense of humor, minus the killing people, and then you both were interested in the same things. After some time, Kai wanted to always be around you. He became nicer and sweeter around you and after the link, he was scared that those characteristics would go away if you did. He didn't understand feelings all that well but with you, it became easier
He was in love with you but he didn't know it yet. He didn't know that all the times that you came around, how he felt happier and his heart skip a beat, he didn't know the word for it. Euphoria was the closest he got. It was unfamiliar but it was also a great feeling and he didn't want it to go away.
You also adored Kai. Growing up you were either surrounded by girls, or guy friends you didn't find attractive. So when Kai found it in himself to befriend you, you were, for a lack of a better word, surprised. He was very handsome man with a very charming personality. It shocked you that he even showed interest in talking with you.
The ugly truth was, you loved him two. How could you not? He was your first friend that you had met and the single most only person to stick by your side for so long. It made you grow to love the boy and him in return. Only none of you knew it.
When Kai began hanging around you so much, you loved it. Which was why it made you so hard to accept your college acceptance.
It was something your parent wanted you to do so you happily applied but then when you started catching feelings for fire boy, you regretted sending it in.
The application you did send in was overseas. And when you got the acceptance letter you couldn't believe it.
Scared and afraid, you didn't tell anyone. You pushed it off, but the time for you to leave was coming, so two days before you were due to leave, you called your best friend Bonnie.
You explained and told her you didn't want to go but it was payed for. She understood and promised to help pack. And she did. You both had a great girls time together.
She helped you pack and everytime your phone rang and it was Kai, she would answer it and explain what was going on. Without telling him about college.

Eventually the couple days you spent together went by and Bonnie dropped you off at the airport three hours before your flight was due to takeoff.
You hugged for what seemed like hours and when it was time to go to your gate, you thanked her for keeping your secret safe.
She happily obliged and waved you off, tears brimming.

You got finished with security check early and was waiting for your flight which was due to take off in about forty minutes.

Back at home, Bonnie decided to meet up with Kai at the bar to have a chat with your close friend.
The moment she walked through the door, Kai practically ran over.
"Where is she?" Kai asked. "Slow down. She isn't here." Bonnie replied and went to take a seat. Kai followed and was worried considered since she had been with you, he thought you'd be there with her too.

"Well where is she?" Kai asked. "She won't be coming back." Bonnie cringed. Kai laughed in disbelief. "She wouldn't just up and leave." Kai said, fear filling his stomach.
"Not if she didn't have this." Bonnie slid your acceptance letter across the table.
His eyes read over it.
"E-England?" Kai's voice was shaky. "Yeah but she will be back in a few years." Bonnie assured. Kai looked back up, fear and sadness swimming in his eyes.
"Years? No no no no, Bonnie. She can't be gone for a few years. I-I-I-I-I-I won't live!" Kai exclaimed. "Do you. . . Like her?" Bonnie asked.
"No!" Kai shouted. "I've considered that but that's not what I feel. It's more than a like but-but I dont know what it is." He continued, frustrated.
Bonnie sat back in worry, yet she couldn't hide the smile on her face. "You love Y/N." She said.
"Love! Love. Thats the word." Kai shouted. "Oh no. . . I love her. But what am I going to do. . . She's gone." Kai said and slammed his head on the table, covering his neck with his hands.

"Her flight doesn't leave for another forty minutes." Bonnie said, checking her watch.
That was all Kai needed to hear. He got up and ran out of the restaurant and to his car, in which he didn't even bother to wear a seatbelt.

Thirty minutes later and you had plugged in your phone and began to read.
"Flight 8178 will be boarding in five minutes." A lady spoke over the intercom.
You gathered your things but paused when you heard someone shouting your name.
Nervousness struck your heart as you quickly looked to everyone who was staring at a tall figure dressed in black, running down the hallway.
"Y/N!" Kai shouted. "What are you doing here?!" You shouted at him when he grabbed your shoulders, catching his breath. It smelled like mint as it fanned across your face.
"Bonnie told me. You can't leave." Kai said. "Kai, its a bit late for that." You gestured to the people getting up to board.
"No, its not." Kai insisted.
"Give me one reason to stay." You glared. You really wanted to stay, but you couldn't just drop it just because.
Kai didn't even hesitate. He slammed his lips against yours and his hands went to your cheeks.
Your lips moved in sync with his and you let out a small whine when he pulled away. You loved that amazing feeling you had wanted for so long.
"I'm in love with you and if you leave. . . There's a chance you could find someone else and I just can't stand the thought of someone else whispering dirty things in your ear." Kai smirked.
"And what makes you think I like you back?" You grinnd back. Kai's face sunk.
"Well, I---" He began sadly but then you laughed and cupped his face. "Im just fucking kidding." You went on your tippy toes and softly put your lips to his.
You pulled away and set your ticket on a seat. "Oh, Malachai." You sighed.
"Ooh, thats hot when you say my full name. Youre calling me that tonight." Kai grinned, putting an arm around you.
"What's tonight?"
"You'll see." Kai smirked and kissed your head.
Except you didn't actually see. But you did feel.
