The Movie

Today at school was more horrid than yesterday. I wore a black and white pleated skirt and a plain white top. I also decided to wear mascara on my eyelashes to change up my style a bit. That was probably a bad idea. "Miss Henderson!" I had a grumpy principal standing directly in front of me. "Yes Mrs Rowe?" I replied quite softly. "Your sister has informed myself and other staff that you have been wearing makeup to school." She said. "You will have to report to the office now to have it removed, this is your first and final warning."
I sat there in agony waiting for the office staff to give me makeup wipes to remove my vaguely noticeable mascara. It was kind of embarrassing. I just wanted Tom to notice me.
At lunch Leya sat down next to Kate and I and tried to get that little scarlet pony tail into our business again. "You know Tom will never like you" she hissed at me while her friends cackled behind her. "Haven't you got something better to do?" Kate glared at her as she hustled me to my feet and we walked away angrily. "I hope you don't take anything she says to heart" Kate had said giving a smile. "It's true though Kate. It's Tom we're speaking about." I replied with a sigh. "That boy will forever melt my heart."

I went to the new Royal Cinema across the road from the bakery at Joy's Village with Kate. We picked the worst day to see 'Terrified Trolls'. We sat right at the back of the theatre on plushy leather chairs. I cozied into the chair and took a sip of my frozen Coke, I then turned to my right and a few seats away out of nowhere was Tom and his group of friends. Why today? I immediately felt shy. I tried not to let him see me the whole time.
When the movie ended Kate and I walked out of the symmetrical sliding doors. As we walked over to the ferns that rustled faintly in the warm breeze, Tom's face and all its glory came rushing over to us. "Hey Kate!" He says calmly. Him and Kate were pretty close and it really irritated me in all sorts of ways. "Hello there Olivia" he chirped with a big crooked smile on his face. *Tom Chambers just smiled at me!* I thought whilst my face lit up bright red, again! "Uh..uh h-hey Tom" I managed to spill out in stutter. He was wearing a black Stüssy muscle shirt and I could see his bulging biceps at the top of his vainy arms. Kate could tell I was being really shy and she was trying to give me signs with her eyes to tell me to communicate with Tom. "Why don't you chill here next week with us Tom?" Kate asked smirking at me. "Y-you can bring your friends!" I chirped and immediately regretted my decision. "I'd like that, thanks girls." He replied with another smile that made my eyes almost water. He then walked back to his friends and we went in our separate ways. What a day, I finally got a smile from Tom!

I woke up the next morning with the biggest smile on my face. Although I didn't get much sleep, all I could think about was Tom. He said hello to me and gave me the cutest smile. I was thrilled. My happiness had soon broke that afternoon.

When mum came home she told Leya and I she had some news to share. "I got an email from your father." She had said biting her lip. Leya and I said nothing. We were kind of shocked. "He wants both of you to visit him in Cali for the week..." Leya and I looked at each other and back at mum again as she twisted her chestnut hair around her finger. "Can we go! Can we go!?" Leya screeched standing off of her chair. My mind was going fuzzy. Why would dad want to see us after 2 years? Does he even care about us? I'm not even his daughter...

The flight was organised for Saturday the week after and Leya was super excited. I guess I was too but I had too many questions to feel any emotion towards it.

For the next two days Leya never came up to me at school, she never even spoke to me. Which was extremely weird and I didn't know how to feel about it. I think it's because of the trip next week and dads sudden email but I never even thought of that then.
