***Busted!!***

That was the first thought which came to my mind when i saw my maternal grandmother entering the room. The second, following close on the heels of first, was that her timing of arrival was perfect. There was not a soul in the studios at this hour (apart from Vincent, who wouldn't recogniz her anyway... phew) and her coming (and going - i hope it happens fast!) will go unnoticed. But just then i saw that child-like gleam in Vincent's eyes (the one, which a person gets when he meets some famous celebrity and almost dies of heart attack due to sheer excitement and starts thanking his luck... oh what a hopeless groupie!!). He almost pounced on my gran's feet, "OMG, like.. OMG... aren't you Claire Everret Sloan? Five time minister of Parliament (MP) from Westinlake... i can't believe i'm meeting you ma'am," he paused trying to breathe,"such a big name in the politics of our country, standing here, in the Imagine lobby".

"Oh great", i muttered under my breath. I just hope he doesn't start massaging her feet. What an ass-wipe! I thought, embarrassed.

My grandmother nodded and smiled graciously, obvioulsly happy, for all the attention and admiration she was getting from my idiot 'famous-people-worshipping' buddy.

Then he turned to me, "Why didn't you tell me that you are granddaughter of The Claire Sloan?", he asked me, feeling betrayed as if i had spent all his money on lottery or something.

I snorted, mocking him. This from a boy, who barely an hour ago was accusing me of lack of imagination.

I sighed resignedly. No point hiding now Iz. I mean i am not ashamed of my tainted past (not actually tainted, but i find these 'political people' pretty 'mafioso' type). There was a reason i had kept my family history away from my colleagues here. Once they know that you are 'politically connected' , they start expecting you to solve the entire country's problem, help them get Visa for going abroad and ask you to pull some strings so that their aunt's son's cousin's daughter get admission in some college.

Not to mention the 'your-gran's-security-costs-the-country-three-crore-every-year' kinda remarks.. smirk, smirk!!

"I am sorry i didn't tell you before about this Vince, meet my grandma!", i told him. I reached out to gran, gave her a big hug and then we all sat down on the sofa in the lobby area. I asked her about her health, how things are at home in Newland City (yup the capital of our country - home to the people who run this nation) and about life post retirement from (dark) world of politics.

Finally the pizza guy arrived (much to my relief!) and Vince scurried off to sign the order.

"who is that joker, Isabella?" , grandma asked looking at Torres standing near the doors, arguing with the delivery guy, "don't tell me he is your boyfriend!".

"He is my friend, gran, not a joker", i hissed back and replied with gritted teeth, "and stop calling me Isabella!".

"Such a nice name you've got dear, what should i call you then? Izzie?? sounds like the name of some homeless punk", she snorted disapprovingly. And i realised that i sound exactly like her when i snort (snooty and bitchy)... Oh God why??

"ughh..", i made an infuriating noise in my throat, "forget it, tell me why are you here?"

"heyy,.. now i can't even come to see my child? i just came here to meet you."

Please, it can never be that simple. Her mere arrival had caused the alarm bells to ring in my mind. Elections were just round the corner, there must be some hidden agenda. Oh-my-gosh, what if she asks me to campaign for her? but surely, she's retired now, right?

Right?
