“Well, maybe we should introduce ourselves?” Marcy asked as she looked between Marissa and Derrick. Derrick nodded his head slowly.
“The names Derrick” He walked over to Marissa and held his hand out to her.
“Yeah, that’s cool. I didn’t ask.” Marissa walked away from them to a building north.
Derrick had a look of surprise on her face and Marcy rolled her eyes and followed Marissa. Derrick followed after Marcy.
“What’s her problem?” Derrick whispered to Marcy.
“I don’t know. I can bet that this is going to be tons of fun though. Did you see the way the devil was talking to her?” Marcy whispered back and stopped walking.
“Yeah, it was almost as if they knew each other. Can we really trust her?” Marissa stopped walking and Derrick looked back at Marcy confused and then he bumped into Marissa. “Ma’am I’m sorry” He stuttered and took a step back.
“Whatever kid. If neither of you trust me then fine, I didn’t ask you to. I suggest you find somewhere else to stay then. I know how the devils little games work, stick with me and we’ll get through. Otherwise you’ll just lose.” Marissa brushed her hair behind her ear and looked at Marcy.
“What?! This isn’t a game! Are you crazy? Did you not hear him say that if we fail to stay alive here that we will die in real life?” Marcy yelled at Marissa.
“It’s a game of hide and go seek, think of it that way and we’ll win. Worry about dying and we’ll just lose.” Marissa looked in the windows of a building and kicked open the door with her black polished combat boots. “Let’s get going shall we?”
Derrick nodded his head and walked over to Marissa, stumbling over his feet nervously every now and then. Marcy stood still with her arms crossed over her small chest. Marissa grabbed the little boys hand and pulled him inside with her gently. Marcy looked around expecting someone to tell her that this is a joke and she noticed it wasn’t; she began walking to the house they just entered and closed the door behind her.
“Well look who decided to join the party” Marissa said giving Marcy a welcoming smile. Marissa realized that she might not get out of her coma so fast so she has to get along with them. She mentally rolled her eyes and shook her head.
“You guys stay here; I’ll go check the place out.” Marissa walked into the kitchen of the building and turned on the lights and kept the curtains closed. She checked to see if everything else was safe. Then she went into the living room, den, and finally upstairs.
“Maybe she’s just not in a good mood?” Derrick said rubbing he nonexistent hair on his chin, pondering.
“No, I think she is the devils spawn and the devil is in love with her and she with him and this game is made up by them.” Marcy said as she walked to sit on the white cottony couch in the living room. Derrick sat by her and stared at her for a while. Marcy said nothing and looked in the other direction.
He frowned and looked down at the floor and tried to figure out what to say next. Derrick wanted to come out alive and he knew that they had to get along to be able to do that.
“Don’t be so mean, Marcy. She might be the only hope we have.” Marcy nodded her head in agreement, finally realizing that they’re stuck here for who knows how long.
“We’re going to have to all talk though. There’s a reason why we all are here.” Marissa came down the steps as her black, spit-shined clean boots stomped on each wooden creaky step.
