A NEW LIFE
I opened my eyes and gasped for air, my family was dead. Dead all gone. But my sister she might survive. Might.... I hiccuped and the tears came again. How would I live without a mom and dad? Where would I go? What would my friends think? And the question that repeated over in my head. Why couldn't it of been me? I said it over and over until the doctor interrupted me.
"I'm going to leave okay Sam?" He said. "Press that red button again when your ready we need to talk.
I slowly nodded and grabbed for the box of tissues. I pulled out a couple and wiped the tear and shot mixture off of myself.
The next hour was a big blur, mostly filled with tears, snot, and regret. "We should of stayed at home, never gone out this wouldn't of happened." I sobbed. I really needed to summon the doctor, it was getting late. I took one more tissue and wiped everything off my face. I sat up and hit the big red button. A couple moments later the doctor walked in.
"Are you feeling nauseous Sam?" He asked.
"No" I replied. "Why?"
"Well when we told you the, the um news you started to choke and you were convulsing" He drew in a sharp breath."We had to sedate you, you were in danger of further injuring your leg or arm and one of the side affects of the sedation is nausea"
I held back a sob.
"N-no I'm okay now"
"Alright, good" He exhaled. "But uh that's not all, we need to discuss your living situation. Since you have no godparents, nor any relatives we could get a hold of, you will be placed in a foster home until we can find a permanent home for you. Now in this foster home there are two other kids, now let me see there is a ten year old
named Sarah and I believe a sixteen year old like yourself." He looked at me. "His name is Jake. Now you will be leaving for the home tomorrow morning."
I rocked back and forth, I was leaving my home, leaving my school for this. I nodded holding back tears. "Tomorrow" I repeated.
And with that the doctor swiftly walked out of the room. I glanced at the clock, it was ten pm. I laid down and fluffed out my thick white pillow. I pulled the covers over my face and slowly dozed off. My night was filled with nightmares I woke up in a puddle of my own sweat and tears. The nurse was shaking me.
"Sam? Sam? Wake up! We're going to your new home soon!" A voice said cheerfully
I opened my eyes plastered together with sleep and saw the black haired nurse.
I stretched and the nurse helped me out of bed and into some clean cloths. Then she showed me the bathroom and gave me face cleanser, a hairbrush, and a tooth brush.
"And there's one more thing" She looked at me. "I went to the store last night and picked up some makeup for you" She paused. "I didn't know what you liked, so I did my best"
I looked at her with grateful eyes
"Thank you so much, you've really made me feel better uuhm nurse...uhh" I trailed off.
"Oh you can call me Trish!" She said.
"Oh okay, thank you Trish" I said.
I picked up the brand new make up
"Wow! I've never had makeup this nice, did you buy this with your own money?" I asked.
"Yeah" She said. "I just wanted you to feel good on your first day in your new home." She smiled. "Well you better get ready ill be waiting in your room"
