“Oh! I didn’t know you’re back, Taeyeonah.” Halmuni smiled at me. “Oh, who’s this beautiful lady?” She gestured towards my dilemma.
“Taeyeon hyung’s wife, halmuni.” Sooyoung rapidly fired back while smiling awkwardly.
And I swear my face just became distorted with a hurl of emotions swirling inside me.

THE INVENTION OF LYING
“WIFE????!!!” I hissed at Sooyoung after hastily taking him outside, away from anyone who can hear us.
“What? What’s wrong with that?” He casually asked while munching on a bag of chips. I squinted my eyes, trying to control myself and not strangle him, my fist completely curling into a ball of irritation.
“What do you mean ‘what’s wrong with that’? You just told my halmuni I got MARRIED! What’s more? My bride just happened to be a princess who I’m supposed to kidnap and ask ransom for! What did you put me to, Soo? You’re poking on my wound, you stick!” I smacked his head and stole the bag of chips he was eating.
“Ouch! Hey, that’s mine!” He rubbed his head and tried to take back his junk food from me. “Why are you such a sour puss, hyung? Didn’t you hear the girl say ‘who am I’? That only means ONE THING! She doesn’t remember who she is or where she came from! Na-da! Zero! None!” He took a handful of chips and chomped it noisily. “If she doesn’t remember who she is, there wouldn’t be a problem to her being your wife, right?” He swung his forefinger in front of me as if he’s the all-knowing person he clearly isn’t; his words were starting to sink into my consciousness though. “If she’s your bride, she doesn’t have to go back to her wealthy little world and you don’t have to fess up to the crimes you could have committed and if nobody finds out, who would punish you?”
He’s really sounding smart, right now.
No, Tae.
This is just so wrong.
Don’t listen to this crazy dongsaeng!
You’re digging your grave deeper!
“You’re safe, she’s safe. You got yourself a wife; she got a kind, loving, handsome, super cute, awesome, hardworking and very talented husband!” He blinked his eyes cutely while pinching my cheeks and then, he saw me roll my eyes at his attempt to console my ego. “Everything’s going to be okay. Everyone’s happy! What more can you ask for?” He beamed, his teeth fully displayed to my sight. I removed his hands from my cheeks and pondered.
He’s got a point, Taeyeonah.
What can possibly be worse, right?
I mean, you’re not bad yourself.
She’s pretty and she seems nice.
I think you’ll get along well.
Soo’s right.
He’s really got a point.
The cat can’t bite the mouse if the mouse doesn’t get caught, right?
Crap.
Just go with it.
It’s all done anyway.
“You…are going to be the death of me…” I massaged my temples at the thought of lies pouring in.
