Dakota's POV
"Hey." I smiled at my brother and sister.
"Hey!" I smiled at my little brother.
"When we get home I'll fix us some lunch, yeah?" They nodded and I turned back around seeing a young girl, about my age, standing outside my door.
"Hi. Can I talk to you for a minute?" I nodded and got out. "I'm Shay."
"Dakota." I smiled.
"I was wondering if you would mind allowing me to use your phone. My car just got stolen and I left my phone at my house."
"Sure. Get in, it's pretty chilly out here." She smiled and climbed in the passenger seat. I got inside and gave her my phone. She called the police and gave me the phone.
"Thanks."
"No problem. I wouldn't mind giving you a ride home or to the police station if you'd like?"
"No thank you. I'm going to stay here and wait for them." She began to get out and I grabbed her arm.
"We'll sit here with you. So you don't get hurt or cold." I smiled.
"Thank you so much. Are these your kids?" I shook my head.
"No that's my little brother and sister."
"I'm Adrienne." My sister smiled proudly.
"I'm Aiden." My brother stared out of the window.
"I'm sorry. We just left from visiting our grandparents. They're in a nursing home. And our parents are traveling the world."
"Oh I'm sorry. But if it makes you feel any better Aiden, I'm an orphan. And you have an amazing older sister to take care of you." I smiled. "Appreciate her. I was stuck in at least 20 different foster homes before I turned 18 last year."
"I do have some great sisters." I smiled at him. "Why so many foster homes?"
"All of my foster parents were doing it for the money except for two of them. One of my foster moms got killed in a car accident and my foster dad was killed by his girlfriend." I looked down.
"I am so sorry."
"It's not your fault." I looked at her. She smiled at me. A police car pulled up and she got out. "Thanks again." I nodded, smiling. She gave me £50 and jogged off.
"L-let's go." I started the car and pulled off. As I drove by, Shay smiled at me.
I walked inside and walked to my bedroom. I changed out of my clothes and put some shorts leaving on my bra. "Can I use this?" I looked at my little sister holding a hair tie. I nodded and she walked in. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing." I smiled. I took the hair tie from her hand and pulled her curly hair in a ponytail. "How does pizza sound?"
"Can I help?"
"If you want to." She smiled and we walked to the kitchen. "Box or from scratch?"
"Scratch."
"What smells good?" Aiden walked in and smiled at us.
"Kota and I made pizzas." I put them on the counter and cut them into eighths.
"Nice." He walked over and grabbed one.
"Kota when are you going to Uni?" I looked at my siblings sad faces.
