Dakota's POV
"So what exactly did we walk in on?" I looked at my mom as she pushed the needle through my belly button. She was doing my piercings.
"Nick came over and he said he loves me."
"So?" I shrugged.
"I don't know." She pulled the ring through the piercing. "But I kissed him back and I actually liked it."
"I always knew he liked you, Kota. I couldn't say anything because of your father." She smiled.
"Typical dad. How mad was he when you walked in?" I sat up, looking at my piercing.
"Beyond pissed." She smiled. She opened the tongue piercing needle and I stuck my tongue out. "Do you want it in your dimple?"
"What dimple?"
"The one in your tongue." I looked at my phone's blank screen. I stuck my tongue out and looked at the dimple in my tongue.
"Yeah." I stuck my tongue back out.
"Look." I showed Nick my belly button.
"Nice. When did you get it?" He smiled.
"My mom did them." He nodded.
"They're cool." He looked up. "Hold on." He got up and I heard his door open.
"Did you tell her?" I heard Bella.
"Half of it."
"Nick, you need to tell her you're moving to Amer-" I waited.
"Bella!"
"Nick you're moving to America?" He looked at me sympathetically. "Why didn't you tell me?"
"I couldn't." My chest hurt and tears stung my eyes. What was this feeling? "Kota?"
"Yeah?" I sniffled.
"No please don't cry." He looked at me.
"Sorry Kota." I smiled at Bella.
"It's not your fault Izzy." I wiped my tears. "Nick?"
"Yeah love?"
"I'll see you later."
"Okay." He hung up and I grabbed my keys.
"Where are you going?" I looked at my dad. "Are you crying? What's wrong princess?" I ran to him and he hugged me tightly.
"What's wrong with me?" I cried into his chest.
"Come on."
We walked down the road eating ice cream. "Dad?" I looked up at him.
"Yeah?"
"Have you ever lost someone close to you?" I looked at my ice cream.
