The castle was in sight as the carriage trotted nearer and nearer to it. Gaston's eyes were filled with amazement and astonishment. Never has he seen a castle larger than this. It could even reach the sky!
Gaston was on the verge of tears. Mainly because the carriage was literally made out of onions, but also because the sight was too beautiful. They travelled through the gate and into the front yard which was magnificent.
After a while of just staring at the castle, Gaston got out of the carriage, still in amazement. Donkey was attacked by his children as he fell backwards with the little creatures on top.
Puss sighed. "Some people never change."
In front of the door, stood a woman in a blue dress with a crown on her head. Beside her, was an ogre wearing a green dress and she wore a frown. For some reason, she was glaring at Gaston. He looked at her uneasily and gulped.
The ogre gritted and stormed towards Gaston. "Why are you here, Shrek? Apologising won't solve anything."
Confusion took over Gaston's body as he furrowed his eyes. "Um...do I know you?"
The lady widened her mouth in astonishment. "Are–are you kidding me Shrek? This is how you solve problems? By–by 'forgetting' who I am?"
Donkey turned to Puss with a worried look. "This isn't going well."
"No, it's going perfectly fine. Look at the happy couple, walking on a rainbow," sarcasm was dripping off from Puss. He adjusted his hat and rolled his eyes.
Donkey sighed. "Puss, I think you need glasses." He looked at the two ogres. "I'm pretty sure that there are no rainbows around."
The cat shook his head sadly. How did I ever put up with him?
The woman in the blue dress sighed and walked over to the couple. "Fiona, I think you should give Shrek a chance."
"Mother! How can I?" She pointed to Gaston. "He lost one of my children!"
The woman rolled her eyes. "It was a pet fish, Fiona. A fish does not count as your child."
"But mother! That fish, you call, was the only thing that reminded me of father!"
Poor Gaston could only blink. His life was getting crazier and crazier. Sure he was standing in front of a grand castle but he was an ogre. And somehow, the ogre was married to another. Gaston obviously didn't want to be married to an ogre. He wanted to be with Belle.
The mother and daughter kept arguing while Gaston scratched the back of his head nervously. "Um...shall I just buy a new fish for you?"
The Queen turned to him with a smile. "What a great idea Shrek! A new one can just replace the old one."
Fiona was astonished. Her mouth was wide open as she looked at her mother then at the ogre. "How–how can you say that? You can't replace him!"
But she was ignored as the Queen didn't reply to her. She smiled brightly at Gaston. "Now, you go to the pet shop and get a new goldfish for Fiona and make it up to her."
Gaston returned her the smile as he nodded and turned around to walk. Donkey and Puss accompanied him as they started walking through the gate and through a path.
He sighed in relief. At least he was now away from all the arguing. The three were now surrounded by shops and thousands of people were swimming around like fishes.
"Hey, isn't that a pet store?" Puss pointed to an old shop that looked broken and needed repairing. The owner of the shop really was lazy.
But that didn't stop Gaston from walking towards it. Puss followed him as Donkey hurried along nervously. "Shrek, don't you think it kinda gives of a scary vibe?"
