Michael was an excellent warrior and swordsman. This, however, did not stop him getting injured from time to time.
The eldest Archangel stumbled in, clutching the wound on his abdomen. As soon as Lucifer spotted the blood, he yelled for Raphael and hurried to his brother, quickly but gently guiding him to a chair so he could sit down.
Raphael hurried in, a first aid kit already clutched in his hands. They all knew the procedure.
Raphael set to work on the most serious wound - the one on Michael's stomach - no questions asked. Lucifer started tending to a nasty cut on his elder brother's face, rubbing soothing circles on his back whenever the pain proved to be too much. Michael winced and grimaced but he never made a sound.
"Alright, that should numb the pain. Just try not to move too much." Raphael was the first one to speak - he had smeared the gash with an ointment which smelled just as foul as it looked. Michael nodded.
"Are you hurt, Mikey?" A small voice asked from the doorway. The three Archangels looked to find Gabriel standing there, a worried expression on his little face.
"A little." Michael admitted. "But Lucifer and Raphael are healing me, so it's okay."
"My wanna help!" Gabriel said, toddling over to his older brothers.
"I think it's best if we let Raph stick to the healing, Gabe." Lucifer smiled.
"You're helping." Gabriel pointed out, pouting adorably. "Pwease?"
Michael glanced at Lucifer and Raphael in amusement, then looked back at the golden haired fledgling. "Alright. There's a bruise on my hand that needs fixing. Do you think you can do that?" Michael asked, holding his hand out. Gabriel nodded enthusiastically and nearly tripped over his own wings to help his brother.
"I need to make sure it's clean, right Raphie?" Gabriel questioned, looking over at the healer for guidance.
"That's right." Raphael nodded. He was wrapping a bandage around Michael's torso carefully.
Gabriel rummaged around in the first aid box before coming up with a tub of ointment - something Raphael had made himself. The littlest Archangel took his eldest brother's hand gently and rubbed a bit of the paste onto it, screwing up his nose when the smell hit it. "Ugh! That stinks."
Lucifer chuckled as Gabriel stuck his tongue out in concentration. He was finished with the cut on Michael's face, but the blonde was running a thumb over his cheekbone soothingly, in a tender and affectionate gesture. He was reassuring himself more than Michael - Lucifer always stressed when his big brother was hurt in any way.
When he was finished Gabriel nodded, satisfied, then picked up a plaster and carefully placed it on the mark on Michael's hand. He flashed a big toothy grin up at his brothers.
"All done!" The fledgling announced. "Now it just needs a kiss to make it better." At that, he leaned forwards and kissed Michael's hand.
Michael laughed and pulled Gabriel into his lap, avoiding the wound on his side. "Thank you. All of you."
Gabriel beamed happily - he had helped! - and nuzzled his head into Michael's warm chest. Lucifer smiled as Michael put an arm around him and Raphael, pulling them closer. The blonde kissed Michael's temple and ran a hand through little Gabriel's hair, making the youngest giggle happily. Raphael allowed himself to be pulled closer but rolled his eyes at his brothers' antics; he had had enough craziness in this family to last aeons.
Michael smiled in content as his little brothers snuggled into him, Gabriel's head underneath his chin, Raphael's hands resting on his shoulders and Lucifer's arms around his torso. He knew that it wouldn't really matter if he ever got hurt - his baby brothers would always, always be there to heal his wounds.
Wouldn't they?
