Sehun pulled Jongin into a tight embrace. It went unspoken, but Jongin knew he had been forgiven.
"Jongin, I want to talk to you about something, but I need to know that you are in the right state of mind."
Jongin took a deep breath and stared into the younger male's eyes, "Sehun, I'm okay now. You can tell me."
"I want to take you with me."
"What do you mean?"
"I want to turn you into a merman......"
It took the elder a while to process what he had just heard. Was it even possible for him to magically sprout a tail? He thought of all the responsibilities he would leave behind and he knew that he could hand everything over to his Vice President. He had nothing left on land, but in the sea he had a future with the love of his life. He knew what his choice was.
"Sehun, I'm not sure what becoming a merman entitles, but I want to become one so that I can be with you."
Sehun let out a sigh of relief. He was nervous as to what Jongin would say, but in his heart he knew that the elder would come with him.
"When will you turn me?" Jongin asked shyly.
"I figured that I would give you time to get everything sorted out."
"In three days then!" Jongin shouted gleefully with little thought put into his answer. He told Sehun that he was going to work on getting paperwork sorted out that night. Jongin worked through the night and sent an email to Kyungsoo asking if they could meet soon. Jongin went to work the next day and announced that he was going into an early retirement. He then pulled his Vice President, Yifan, aside and told him that he was now in charge of the company. He took the information well Jongin thought. Minus the part when he dumped his coffee on his pants when he heard the news.
Jongin felt like the world had been lifted off of his shoulders when he signed the company over to Yifan. He left the building for the last time in his life that day and headed to the cafe down the street where he was to meet with Kyungsoo.

Kyungsoo was an accepting man and Jongin knew that. He also knew he could trust Kyungsoo with his secret. The lawyer took in the news with a relaxed look on his face. Kyungsoo was going to sell all of Jongin's belongings and put the money into a specialized bank account that would allow the money to be donated to a specific foundation if the account hadn't been opened in 100 years. Jongin also had his parents wedding rings put in a safe.
Jongin was proud of himself for accomplishing what he had told Sehun he would do in one day instead of three. He hadn't expected Kyungsoo's schedule to be that clear. He honestly didn't have anything left to do. He didn't have to say goodbye to anyone because no one would even notice his absence.

It was weird going to bed that night without seeing Sehun. He tossed and turned all night long. The lack of Sehun's presence kept him wide awake all night long. All he could think of was being wrapped in Sehun's arms.
He woke up the next morning and looked at the picture of his parents on his bedside table. He stuck the frame into a waterproof bag along with the shells that Sehun had given him over the years. Those were the only things he considered to be valuable. He had many doubts running through his mind the rest of the day, but he wouldn't be changing his mind now. Jongin was stubborn. After he had made decision trying to make him change his mind was like trying to change the direction in which a river flowed.
The sun was setting as Jongin looked out his kitchen window for the last time. He walked out of the house with just swimming shorts on and his bag in hand. The necklace Sehun had given him was also around his neck.
