"How is she already fine?"

Lucas couldn't help but notice Missy flirting with Billy on the other side of the cafeteria with the bunch of jocks. He usually sat there, too, but stopped after the break-up. Recently, its been mostly him and Zay.

"We just broke up a week ago and she's already all over him!" Lucas exclaimed. He wasn't only jealous of Billy but also jealous that Missy was able to get over him that quickly. It just wasn't fair.

"Dude, relax," Zay said calmly, taking a bite out of his sandwich. "It's just a ploy."

Lucas turned away from Missy's direction and looked at Zay. "What are you talking about?"

"Isn't it obvious?" Zay questioned with his mouth full of bread. "She's totally doing it to make you jealous."

The way Zay said this made Lucas look over at Missy again for confirmation. Was she really flirting with Billy just to make him jealous?

"I don't know," Lucas said, looking back down at his half eaten burger. Lucas was unsure, but desperately wanted Zay to be right. He and Missy had dated for a whole year. They were the school's golden couple, being quarterback and head cheerleader. He couldn't help but grown emotionally attached.

"C'mon, man. It's true! Why else would she be flirting with ol'Billy?!" Zay claimed with confidence. He managed to give Lucas a 'duh' expression, even with a face full of bread crumbs.

"Uh, maybe 'cause she's over me and likes Billy?" Lucas suggested.

"How can someone get over Mr. Lucas Friar, quarterback of the football team and captain of the baseball team? Lucas, listen to me: she's trying to make you jealous," Zay repeated.

Lucas couldn't help but believe Zay. Zay was his best friend and he could trust him with this, right? "Okay, fine. What if she is? What do I do? Do I tell her I want to get back together?"

Zay laughed obnoxiously. "No! You gotta do it back!"

"Do it back?"

"Yeah! Make her jealous and she'll be the one coming after you!"

Lucas frowned. He didn't think this was a good idea but continued to question Zay anyway.

"How?"

"Simple. Maya Hart."

Lucas was even more confused than before. "What does she have to do with anything?"

"I heard Missy got some beef with her," Zay shrugged . "It'll only make Missy more jealous."

While Lucas did want Missy back, he had his morals. Using a girl to get another girl was just wrong. He does remember Missy saying some bad things regarding Maya when they were dating, but it still didn't feel right. "I don't know, Zay. I can't just use Maya. There's some scary rumors out there about her."

"Oh, man up, Lucas! It's just some harmless flirting! What could go wrong?!"

"How is she so good?"

"Well, she is the art teacher, Maya," Riley said, putting her paintbrush down now that she finally finished her fifth painting of a purple cat. Purple and cats were her favorite, and so was Maya, which is why she took this art class even though she wasn't very good at it.
