Chapter Fourteen: Ray's POV
I blinked open my blurry eyes, still crusty with sleep. It took me a moment to take in my surrounding, but I recognized it as Avery's apartment, and the body that was currently in my arms was Avery's petite sleeping form.
I can't help but admire her uniquely beautiful features. Her long jet black hair almost looked dyed, it was such a perfect color, but I know it was natural and it suited her. Her wide gray eyes, which were closed right now always had a sparkle in it, which was absolutely dazzling, and never stopped amazing me. Even her nose was perfect to me, with it's size, you'd think she got a nose job to get it small. This beautiful girl sleeping in my arms looks so innocent and free, you wouldn't even know that her past was terrorized with pain and suffering. Her looks were like that of a teenager's, not someone who was twenty one.
As I'm still admiring her beauty, Avery starts to shift and has a scowl on her face, her eyebrows scrunched and her nose twitching daintily. She reaches her arms to my torso and brings me closer, I laugh and bend down, kissing her small nose.
Her nose twitching again, she begins to stir, before her eyelashes flutter open. Her gray eyes look up at me, sleep blurring them.
"What time is it?" she asks in a sexy morning voice.
I gently move one of my arms to glance at the watch on my wrist.
"Almost noon," I say, wrapping my arm back around her.
"Rayyyy," she whines, adorably. "It's so late! We need to get up!"
Avery begins to shift in my arms, trying to move me enough so that she can get off the couch.
"Nooooo," I wine back, trying to do mimic her cute voice. "Snuggle with me!"
She lightly punches me in the chest, but calms down and snuggles deeper back into my side. She seems to fit so perfectly there, in the crook of my side, under my arm.
"So I was thinking, I need to take you out soon." I whisper into her ear, nibbling on the corner of it.
"Only if you're okay with that though, I'll understand if you don't want to," I quickly add, worried about her reply.
Avery only giggles, an adorable, beautiful, little sound.
"Of course I'll go out with you!" she exclaims. "Wait.... You mean as a date, right?" she asks me, to double check.
"No, I'll be bringing another girl with me. I just want you to be my wingman," I reply sarcastically.
"Oh," Avery replies, seeming crestfallen. I gently nudge her in the side.
"Hey, I was just teasing," I whisper to her.
Avery appears to be embarrassed for a second, but then I have an idea.
"Let go right now!" I exclaim, excitedly.
"Now?" Avery repeats me, astonished.
"Yes now!" I grin, beginning to sit up on the couch, and helping her up as well.
I accidentally trip while helping her up, bringing her back down on the couch and causing me to fall on top of her, my butt on her face.
"Ugh, get off of me you oaf!" Avery cries.
"Oaf?" I cry, being appealed. "Do I look chubby to you?"
"Yes, now get off, I can't breathe!"
"Yeah you can, you're talking, well actually yelling, which mean you can breathe fine," I laugh.
