[101 - T'was The Weekend Before]
"Yeah, this town is murderous, that almost deserved a capital letter. Almost. I'm seriously concerned on why we moved here, the death rate in this town is unusually high and I don't care how hot my necklace burns, he or she will probably be dead soon," Nicole told Corbin - her twin brother - through the phone as she walked through the gas station, in search of snacks for the night. Corbin was at the local movie rental store in search of good horror and comedy movies for them, since they were lucky enough to share good movie taste.
Nicole was fiddling with her warm necklace when Corbin replied in his usual lighthearted tone of voice, "Nicole, trust me, we'll be fine and I'll be damned if our soulmates aren't either," Corbin said, his hand lifting to briefly touch his necklace. While he was also slightly worried about the fate of his soulmate in a town like Beacon Hills he hid it well, knowing Nicole looked up to him with things like this - even if she was older.
"You're right. I'm sure they'll be fine if they survived this long," Nicole breathed out and Corbin sighed thankful that she agreed with him. He hated having to make a list of reasons of why their soulmates would still be alive so that they'd meet. The death of your soulmate weighed heavily in their hearts, it makes it almost impossible for them to survive long without their soulmate and if they did they were never the same afterwards.
"Good, now do you prefer IT, The Shining, or Sinister?" Corbin asked Nicole over the phone, smiling at the sound of her laugh - his ultimate goal - and picking up all three after hearing her say they would skip comedies tonight. Tomorrow the first day before their junior year and also their first day of high school in the town of Beacon Hills. Neither of them were looking forward to it, Nicole less than Corbin considering she wasn't particularly social and people tended to stay away from her because of her general weird and awkward vibe. Corbin was the social one between the two and had the ability to make friends easily but even he had to admit he wasn't the brightest crayon in the box while Nicole was. Though dreading school for different reasons they were determined to make the most of their weekend before school started.

"Are you absolutely sure that you have everything you need?" Diane - the twins' mother - asked over the phone as they sat on the bench in front of Beacon Hills High.
"Yes mom,"
"Yes mother," Corbin and Nicole said at the same time, both holding the tone of exasperation in their voices. Just because the lived in Texas all their lives doesn't mean they can't handle themselves in a new area - Corbin more than Nicole most times.
"Mom, we'll be just fine and even better, we'll have each other. Our schedules are almost exactly the same so I'm sure we'll survive. Now go along with your day and be the fantastic doctor we know you are. Love you!" Nicole got out and Corbin barely managed to get his 'love you' out before Nicole hung up the phone. It was no use to any of them if their mother kept badgering them all morning instead of helping people and saving lives in a town like Beacon Hills.
Only a minute later the principal came and introduced himself before saying he would direct them to their first class of the day - English with Ms. J. Blake (as it said on the schedule). They knew they should've declined this guide session but they didn't think the principal was such a talker, as repetitive and annoying as his questions sounded. The twins gave each other a look but otherwise didn't say a thing and patiently followed the principal to their class, on the way answering his questions as short and curt as possible.
"Here we are, English with Blake. Want me to introduce you two or you can handle it?" The principal asked and again the twins shared a look before answering that they could handle it, allowing the principal to leave.
"Ready when you are big sis," Corbin said and with that Nicole pushed the door to the class open and walked in with her head held high. She was determined to make a good impression, and Corbin followed behind her, looking at his sister and fidgeting slightly as his necklace got hotter around his neck. Before entering the classroom it was warmer than the usual since they moved here, and after entering it felt scolding hot. He didn't know what to make of it, but did know if he didn't take his necklace off soon it'll leave a permanent mark on his collarbone and that was the last thing he wanted. He reached around his neck and took it off, pushing it deep into his pocket so he wouldn't lose it, and turned to see his sister already talking to their teacher.
"I'm Nicole White and this is my twin Corbin, we're new here."
Seemed like the perfect place to end. Happy first chapter! :) Attached to the top is the White's necklaces. (From left to right) Corbin, Nicole, and David/Mr. White. If it looks familiar that's cause it's the amulets from Twitches :)
