[103 – The Case of the Burnt Pocket]
When the twins decided to ditch school and the rest of their classes it was on impulse, now they're bored out of their minds with nothing to do. They soon discovered this town was a boring place to be - no hang out spots or quiet places (unless it involved the forest and no way was Nicole going in there) - unless the murderous activity in the town counted as "fun". Which in both of the twins' minds it did not. After riding around for a bit, with Corbin driving they decided they'd just go home since their parents were at work and they had nowhere else to go.
Once they got home, they decided to pick up the movie marathon where they left off at, Corbin popped the popcorn while Nicole put the movie on. She sat with her feet propped on the coffee table, ankles crossed and hand out for the bowl that Corbin dropped on her lap as he took up the same position. They barely talked during the movie and had finished most of the popcorn when the movie ended; Corbin had stood up to stretch Nicole took the opportunity to toss a handful of popcorn at him, laughing when he stood dazed because of the sudden popcorn hitting his face. He bent down and grabbed Nicole's ankles and dragging her off the couch and onto the hardwood floor, causing the rest of the popcorn to fly in the air and land on her and the floor.
"What the hell Corbin?" Nicole wasn't angry, more so annoyed because she has popcorn kernels and butter in her hair after she spent so much time doing it this morning. Her brother was watching her angrily shaking her head, trying to get as much popcorn out as she can but he knew she'd have to wash it and redo it tomorrow morning. "Thanks bro, this is just lovely," Nicole said before sitting back on the couch.
"You're welcome sis," Corbin replied.
"I hope you know I'm leaving you to clean this up alone," Nicole said, finishing with a huff and kicking her feet up on the table. Corbin shrugged before going to grab the broom and dustpan in the kitchen and coming back to sweep the floor, once he was done he put everything back where it came from and reached into his pocket to get his necklace. It was nowhere near as hot as it was when he was inside Ms. Blake class instead it was now the usual warm temperature the twins expected their necklaces to be since entering the city of Beacon Hills.
"What the fuck?" Corbin asked out loud when he felt something crispy at the bottom of his pocket, since he knew for sure he took all the candy wrappers and shit from his pockets before putting the pants on.
"What's up?" Nicole asked from the couch where she was checking her phone and answering text messages.
"This fucking necklace burnt my damn pocket!"
Nicole looked up from her phone to see her brother's face before finishing typing her text message and sending it, "Maybe that was karma for taking it off big bro," she replied to him.
"If it wasn't trying to burn a hole in my damn neck then I wouldn't have had to take it off," Corbin said as he slumped on the couch beside his sister.
"It wouldn't have done that Corbin, besides your soulmate was right there. I would've killed to have met mines by now."

David and Diane made it home sometime before 9, which was an amazement to both of the twins. "Hey mom and dad, how was work?" Corbin was the first to say something to their parents.
"It was exciting, met the new nurse I'll be mostly working with - Erica Carls - she's pretty amazing with the kids there," Diane said while shrugging off her jacket and hanging it in the closet.
"The college isn't a big one so the classes are small, something I'm not particularly use to so it didn't take nowhere near as long as I thought it would to remember their names," David told his kids, he taught English 1010 at Beacon Hills Community College and often came home late because he hated bringing work home with him.
"Curry chicken and rice fine for dinner?" Diane asked and everyone yelled out a yes, it was Diane's signature dish and probably one of the few things she actually knew how to cook. David was usually the cook of the house, especially since he'd be home earlier that everyone else and actually liked cooking.
Corbin, Nicole, David, and Diane all ate dinner together as a family and all parted to do their own thing; it was Nicole's dish turn tonight, Corbin was in his room texting his friends from Texas, Diane and David were both in their room preparing for tomorrow.

Nicole was having serious issues doing her hair, she had stupidly washed it last night and now her hair was unmanageable. There was no way she'd be able to straighten it before school started and she didn't want to risk being late, so she wet it, blow dried and combed it into a bush before grabbing her bag and leaving her room. Corbin was already downstairs eating cereal when she made it down, she opted for a cup of grapes and orange juice instead of cereal and yelled for Corbin to come on as she walked out the front door. Since it was her turn to drive they were taking her car, and she'd have to listen to Corbin complain and shout about her reckless driving as if it would phase her.
They made it to school alive and about ten minutes before classes started and instantly split up to find their lockers. After both twins switched their books out for their morning classes - Corbin sticking his necklace into his pocket to avoid it burning him as he was in English class - they met up in front of their first class. Walking in together they sat in their seats from yesterday and talked to each other until class started.

Nicole hated nothing more than group work while Corbin loved it, he thrived in social situations while Nicole barely made it out without needing a long nap afterwards. Blake had put them into groups of five to discuss the first three chapters of the book they were currently reading, and somewhere along the way the conversation turned to details of a party happening that night. Corbin was the lively one, wanting to go while Nicole just nodded and pretended as if she was listening.
"Tonight, it's this girl's -" the guy was cut off.
"Heather's," the girl said before allowing the guy to pick back up.
"- Right, Heather's birthday and she's making it a big deal. It's a house party around 10," the guy said looking at Nicole and Corbin as he spoke. "I'm Ronnie, by the way."
"I'm Sarah, it'll be awesome if y'all would come. It won't be as big as Lydia's used to be but it'll still be great," Sarah said to them.
The twins looked at each other before mentally agreeing together to go tonight, and Nicole spoke, "Sure thing. Text us the details? Maybe we can meet up?"
"Yeah sure, just put your number in," Ronnie said as the bell rang. Ronnie and Sarah both pulled out their phones and each handed it to the twins who inputted their numbers before handing them back. Seconds later they each got a text from Ronnie and Sarah, and saved their name in their phone.
"See y'all tonight!" Sarah said, leaving the room. Nicole smiled as Ronnie followed them, she were happy they were her first friends at this school.
In order to celebrate my new cover and cast list, here's a chapter. There's not much happening but there will be soon, I think. Yes, Corbin's soulmate is Lydia, but he won't know it for about another week or so, tbh. I decided to make the party the next day, not the same day as the first day of school. Hope you enjoyed :)
P.S. If you haven't seen the new cast list it's updated in the first chapter, and on the side as of this morning. The next cover was put into use a few hours ago. Thanks for the support and don't forget to comment & vote :)
